Community Highlights: Meet Amber Prosceno of Evolved Massage and Lymphatics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Prosceno

Hi Amber, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In my early 20s, I spent four years traveling, work-trading on organic farms in Costa Rica and Hawaii, backpacking, and taking on various jobs—pruning banana trees in Australia, making almond butter in Missouri, and more. When I arrived in Austin in 2010, I took an odd job promoting a circus. One day, I walked into a massage school, and a conversation with the front desk woman sparked something in me. A week later, I enrolled in massage school.

My own struggles with migraines, neck, and shoulder tension led me to focus deeply on massage as a means of relief. I pursued extensive training, attending dozens of courses to expand my skill set. Over the years, I worked at well-known spas and clinics in Austin before shifting my focus to my private practice in 2018.

In 2019, I expanded into a four-room office suite in South Austin. The following year, I faced a personal health challenge—cat scratch fever. A lymph node in my leg became so swollen that doctors initially suspected a hernia. Fortunately, I was already familiar with lymphatic massage and received several treatments from a friend. The results were immediate, allowing me to avoid surgery that could have carried lifelong risks of lymphedema. That experience was a turning point—I enrolled in the first available lymphatic certification course and have since completed numerous advanced trainings to deepen my expertise.

Today, I specialize in working with post-op clients recovering from cosmetic and medical surgeries, as well as individuals with abnormal lymph node issues, long COVID, autoimmune conditions, stress and anxiety, grief, and those on weight loss and wellness journeys. Helping my clients regain their health and well-being has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
COVID was the biggest obstacle I’ve faced. In 2019, I expanded to a 4-room office suite, from a tiny single office in a rehab center. By early 2020, I had four therapists on staff and was ready to hire an office manager. Then COVID shut us down and all of my therapists moved on to other jobs or parts of the country. I adapted by renting out my rooms to other complimentary therapies and have focused in on my niche of Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Evolved Massage and Lymphatics?
I love understanding each client’s expectations for a massage session and exceeding them. Every massage is unique, and I strive to meet my clients where they are that day by truly listening to their needs. I create a space where they can fully relax and take a break from reality while remaining available for any questions or self-care guidance.

I specialize in Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Deep Tissue massage, particularly for the neck and shoulders. As a Licensed Massage Therapist for 15 years, I spent my first 13 years focusing on pain management and Deep Tissue techniques. Through my own experience with migraines and upper body tension, I’ve discovered highly effective techniques to alleviate these issues.

In 2020, after facing my own Lymphatic system challenges, I discovered Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage. Learning about this entirely different system from the muscular one I had worked with for years reignited my passion for helping clients. I’ve taken many advanced trainings for post-surgery lymphatic massage and have been focusing on offering high quality, safe, effective care.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
The biggest step in finding a mentor for me was picturing where I’d like to be in five or ten years. What makes my heart sing? Find a person already where I want to be and reach out to them. The worse thing they can say is no or leave you on read! For networking events, finding events that compliment your industry and niche is ideal, otherwise you are wasting time. I’m very introverted and find networking painful. I’ve found that being genuinely curious about the people I met to be most helpful. I love asking where their last or next vacation is. What they do in their off time. If they have pets.
