Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Curet.
Hi Anthony, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
DoughBoys started because of Covid. Chef Tony was furloughed from his job, when he went into quarantine he did like everyone else was doing baking bread. He eventually bought a small portable pizza oven. He began making over 50 different types of dough, Flying in flour from all over. Doughboy Max reached on IG saying nothing but good things about the pizzas and the conversation began. Over the next 3.5 months, we begin coming up with Doughboys from starting the LLC to finding the trailer and sourcing all equipment from restaurants that were closing down. It’s been almost a year now and can’t thank everyone who has helped us get to where we are now.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. We started Dough Boys during the most traumatic times of our lives so far. We had to navigate through this when everything else was so uncertain, not to mention the snowstorm and all this rain we have received lately. This both of ours first time having business of our own. But overall, I wouldn’t want to do anything else, The community has really kept us going and we love them for that!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Dough Boys?
We are a local wood-fired pizza truck that strives to bridge the community together through our food. All of our collaborations with the other taco trucks and restaurants throughout the Austin community. What we do different is that we only use Barton spring flour, we’re the only pizza place in the state of Texas that uses the round compostable pizza boxes. We recognized that pizza boxes are one of the biggest contributors to landfill’s and we didn’t want to be a part of that. If we wanted to be a part of the community, we wanted to give back not take away. We’re proud to be able to offer a high-quality product that is innovative and that everyone can enjoy.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
This business has been a HUGE risk, leaving a corporate job with benefits and stability was scary. But if not now then when?–I told myself. We first opened up Dough Boys not knowing if people would make the trip to come see us. So far, it was one of the greatest risks we have ever taken and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
