Community Highlights: Meet Austin Rodriguez of Fitness Education & Training Center LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Rodriguez.

Hi Austin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My wife and I launched our fitness business in 2021, starting with a small group of online clients with whom we’ve built strong, lasting relationships. Both of us hold degrees in Exercise Science, reflecting not only our academic background but also our lifelong passion for delivering quality coaching to the fitness industry. Over the years, we have expanded our reach and, in 2024, transitioned into running the business full-time. Together, we bring more than 20 years of combined experience coaching and training across 12 different fitness facilities, including a Division 1 University, Lindenwood University, where my wife served as the Head Women’s Wrestling Coach and I was the Assistant Olympic Weightlifting Coach. This blend of education and hands-on experience gives us a unique perspective and the ability to connect with clients, independent trainers, and other fitness professionals in ways that ensure long-term growth and success.
At present, we offer two in-person services—personal training and partner training—as well as one online service. Due to space limitations, our in-person options have been intentionally kept small and personalized. Despite this, our client base has grown entirely through referrals, and we are proud to maintain exceptionally high client retention. While we’ve relied primarily on word-of-mouth and have not fully leveraged advertising, we’ve built a strong foundation. Now, we are ready to take the next step: expanding into a class-based system. This will allow us to generate more consistent, recurring income, broaden our revenue streams, and serve a larger community while maintaining the quality and care our clients expect. Our long-term vision has always been to operate as a class-based fitness model—this expansion marks our commitment to that vision.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The more my wife and I have communicated, the smoother the road has been. When we haven’t communicated as well with each other and 1 person made a business decision without consulting the other, then that has been where the hardest struggles have come from. Of course, there are financial struggles, but those struggles are nothing compared to the struggles from miscommunication with my business partner, my wife. The financial struggles have worked themselves out and get figured out along the way.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Fitness Education & Training Center LLC?
We are a strength-focused fitness business specializing in Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, pre- and postnatal training, and overall strength development. What sets us apart is our deep commitment to educating our clients—focusing on proper technique, movement quality, and long-term sustainability.

Our motto, “Empowering Independence Through Fitness,” reflects our mission to equip every client with the knowledge and confidence to train with purpose. Whether you’re brand new or highly experienced, we tailor everything to you—your goals, your needs, your life.

We’re most proud of the consistency and care we bring to every individual who walks through our doors. Our attention to detail, adaptability, and the relationships we build with our clients are what make FETC different.

Currently, we offer personal training, partner training, and we will soon be launching class-based membership options to provide flexible, individualized support across different training preferences. Every service we offer begins with a complimentary consultation to ensure we understand how to best serve your fitness journey.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
We definitely see a big shift happening soon. We are looking to expand into a larger facility and start running class-based services in order to accommodate more members. We seek to revolutionize the class-based system.
