Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Saraceno and Josh Roberts.
Hi Brittany and Josh, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Josh Roberts and Brittany Saraceno are the creative duo behind 815ATX, a photography studio based in Austin, Texas.
We started 815 with an approach deeply rooted in photojournalistic storytelling, and guided by a passion for capturing the real, unscripted moments of a couple’s most important day.
We launched 815ATX with a clear vision: to stay small, focused, and intimately involved in each wedding they photograph. They personally show up for every session — no “surprise second shooters” or replacements.
Our commitment to being present strengthens our ability to tell authentic stories.
We love working with couples who are unafraid to express who they are — playful, unconventional, and deeply themselves. We strive to collaborate with people who don’t mind taking creative risks, whether that means lighting fireworks, dancing on tables, or just being messy and silly together.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Launching a boutique photography studio in Austin meant entering a highly saturated creative landscape. We faced early challenges in defining a style that stood apart from traditional portrait-driven, or trend following photographers.
We aim to attract and celebrate couples who want to break traditions, take risks, or showcase their quirks. Doing this requires us to push past the industry’s pressure to appeal to “everyone,” and instead embracing a niche that aligns with our whimsy. That choice, is what helped us establish a signature style.
We’ve been impressed with 815ATX, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Co-founders & photographers, Brittany and Josh are the faces and four hands behind 815ATX.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Josh: I remember the first time I tried to use my parents old camera. The strap scratched my neck and the whole thing smelled like leather and dust. I pressed my eye to the view finder and everything snapped into a tiny box. The camera wobbled but for a half-second, then the scene locked into place. Pressing the shutter, felt satisfying. That click travelled straight into my chest. When those photos came back from the lab, they weren’t perfect. The dog’s ear was cut off, and part of the frame was too bright but to me it felt like a masterpiece.
Brittany: Mine was getting my first camera, a 110 film camera. The film canisters looked like a little pair of binoculars and I was so interested in how it all worked. My camera was magenta and black and weighed as much as a brick! I took it with me everywhere and started experimenting with different speeds and types of film. I was young at the time and didn’t know it yet but this would be my whole life. I still shot film and experiment with technique, colors and lighting, just on a way nerdier level.
