Today we’d like to introduce you to Dustin Torres.
Dustin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I got started in construction back in 1999 after an F5 tornado destroyed my hometown of Moore, Oklahoma. After a few years framing houses, I started a few small remodeling companies and relocated to Texas in 2005. Then in 2015, I met my now business partner and we started One7design with the mission to design and build wedding venues across the state of Texas. To date, we have built, remodeled, designed over 15 wedding venues. In early 2019 we decided to grow the company by getting into residential new construction in the Austin market. Since then, the residential side of our company has exploded with the current housing market in the Austin area.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say my path has had its share of struggles ranging from the very tight margins and difficulty acquiring leads early on in the remodeling industry to the economic downturn in 2008, and now with the current high demand in the construction industry, it’s at times difficult to juggle everything.

One 7 Design began with two entrepreneurs and a combined 30 years of experience in residential and commercial construction. We identified specific needs in the marketplace and combined them with unique, high-impact design-build solutions. From our high-end wedding venues to our high-end designer homes, we provide an unmatched quality and attention to detail from start to finish.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My business partner Keith Walters definitely deserves a lot of credit. He has played a huge role by not only investing in me but also in believing in my abilities and pushing me to be a stronger leader.
