Community Highlights: Meet Eder Aguirre of Avandaro Ranch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eder Aguirre.

Hi Eder, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Avandaro Ranch as a way to create a luxury escape near Wimberley for couples who wanted privacy, nature, and real downtime. I built it hands on, learned the STR business from the ground up, and expanded into a small collection of high-end cabins with strong systems and automation behind the scenes. Now I’m focused on scaling while keeping quality high and building a business that runs efficiently and creates more freedom for my family.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. We started right in the middle of COVID, which was probably the hardest time possible to build. Everything was backordered, contractors were harder to schedule, and prices were way higher than normal. That slowed the build down and stretched our budget, so we had to be careful and make decisions based on reality, not the “perfect plan.”

On top of that, we came into the short-term rental world with zero experience. We didn’t fully understand what guests actually care about, what drives great reviews, or how many small operational details can break the experience. We made plenty of mistakes early on: messaging, setup, amenities, cleaning workflows, little comfort details. A lot of our improvements came directly from guest feedback. Some of it was painful, but it forced us to get better fast.

The upside is that those struggles made the business stronger. It pushed us to create tighter systems, raise the quality, and build a guest experience that’s consistent. Looking back, the learning curve was steep, but it gave us the foundation we needed to scale with confidence.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Avandaro Ranch is a luxury cabin micro-resort tucked into the Texas Hill Country near Wimberley. We host guests from all over Texas who want a true escape: privacy, nature, and the kind of calm you can feel within minutes of arriving. Whether it’s an anniversary, birthday, or a last-minute weekend reset, our guests come here to slow down, reconnect, and leave the noise behind.

What we’re known for is the full experience. Each cabin was designed around outdoor living, with private patios that feel like your own secluded resort: pool, sauna, outdoor shower, and space to lounge under the trees. And unlike many properties, nothing is shared. No shared pools. No shared amenities. No common spaces. Each cabin is its own little world, built for total privacy and uninterrupted relaxation.

What truly sets Avandaro Ranch apart is that the luxury doesn’t stop at one “wow” amenity. Everything is elevated. The design is intentional. The finishes are high-end. The appliances and details are chosen with the same standard throughout the entire space, inside and out.

A lot of places in the Hill Country offer the bare minimum, or they hang their hat on one standout feature while everything else feels average. That’s not us. At Avandaro Ranch, luxury is the baseline. From the layout to the comfort to the small touches that make a stay effortless, we focus on creating a consistent, high-end experience that feels special from start to finish.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that we’ve built something that feels rare: a place that’s genuinely private, genuinely beautiful, and genuinely designed for relaxation. Our goal has always been simple: deliver a true luxury getaway close to home, so guests can arrive stressed and leave feeling like they actually got their life back.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The STR industry is going to get more competitive and more professional over the next 5 to 10 years, and the places that win will feel like real hospitality brands, not just rentals.

The biggest shift is that average properties will struggle. Guests are getting pickier and comparing everything, so one nice amenity and the rest is fine will not cut it. The top performers will be the ones that deliver true luxury and consistency across the whole experience, plus privacy and comfort you cannot get at a hotel.

You will also see two major forces shaping the market: more regulation, especially in high demand areas, and more automation and AI behind the scenes. The best operators will run smoother, respond faster, and stay compliant, which will create a clear gap between premium properties and the rest.

Pricing:

  • average nightly rate is between $250 and $300 / night
