Community Highlights: Meet Felix Jaimes of Forty4 Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Felix Jaimes.

Hi Felix , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started in high school when I began hand-drawing classmates’ names so they could decorate their binders. What felt small at the time ended up being the beginning of everything. One night, while I was flipping burgers at Sonic — it was half-price Tuesday, and I remember burning my hands during the rush — I got a call on my break that changed my life. A recruiter from the Art Institute told me I had been highly recommended by one of my high school teachers and invited me to tour the school. I enrolled the very same day. If it weren’t for that teacher who saw potential in me before I fully saw it in myself, I may have never started this career.

I went on to earn my bachelor’s degree in Graphic & Web Design and later returned to school to study Digital Marketing. After graduating, I worked with several agencies around town to gain hands-on experience, always with one goal in mind: to eventually launch my own creative studio.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not — owning a business is one of the most challenging journeys you can take. It’s one thing to master your craft, but it’s another to understand how to actually run a business. My work–life balance was tested, and one of the scariest parts was not having the security of a steady paycheck. You’re constantly wearing multiple hats at once while making sure projects are delivered on time and clients are taken care of. Growing up with parents who were business owners, I always knew I wanted to follow in their footsteps, but that didn’t make it easy. I had to quickly learn how to manage my time, lead projects efficiently, and stay organized, because if I didn’t, everything would fall behind.
