Today we’d like to introduce you to Ileana Gonzalez.
Hi Ileana , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m Latina, I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley a few miles from the border of Mexico. In my initial work as a therapist I was motivated to learn more about the pervasive and devastating implications that attachment wounds and disconnection have on families and communities of people. Including the community I grew up in.
There is a space between people that determines the strength and authenticity of relationships they are able to have. This space is influenced by our initial familial attachments and all relationships after. Helping clients explore this space has become the heart of my work. It is the honor of a lifetime to be able to explore this space with clients and hear their stories. In 2022 I decided that as a therapist in private practice I could continue my work in an authentic and meaningful way that granted me the autonomy to specialize in areas I am passionate about. Including attachment, generational trauma, and anxiety.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course there are been challenges along the way. Including the pandemic, imposter syndrome and a mid twenties crisis! I wasn’t sure at first if this vision was enough to start my own practice with. Through my work as a therapist and as a person I have been fortunate to have created a wonderful group of friends and colleagues that supported me. None of which I could have accomplished had I not done personal work on learning how to build solid relationships.
We’ve been impressed with Gonzalez Therapy, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a Latina therapist and private practice owner, I am deeply committed to helping individuals navigate the complexities of attachment, trauma, and generational healing. Growing up in a culturally rich yet often challenging environment, I understand how family dynamics, unspoken expectations, and past wounds shape the way we connect with ourselves and others. My work focuses on helping you break free from cycles of insecurity, self-doubt, and relational struggles so you can build healthier, more fulfilling connections.
Through a trauma-informed and culturally affirming approach, I provide a safe space for you to explore your story, process deep emotions, and learn tools to foster emotional resilience. Whether you’re struggling with anxious or avoidant attachment, relationship difficulties, or the weight of generational trauma, I’m here to help you rewrite your narrative with compassion, clarity, and confidence.
I work with adults 18+. I am currently accepting new clients and work via Teletherapy with clients residing in the state of Texas.
Any big plans?
I’m currently looking forward to continuing to grow my practice and hopefully turn it into a group practice!
