Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmeen Wilson.
Jasmeen, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I come from a background of mental health challenges present in my family. When a child has to show up as a caregiver to a parent, sibling, or others in your family, that role can create several different outcomes. I developed such a profound sense of empathy for others and people-pleasing. The diagnosis of my mother’s epilepsy and other mental health challenges came when I was losing my father as well. For a seven-year-old, this is a lot, and in a child’s mind, death translates to abandonment. These childhood wounds that we all accumulate are to be worked through and utilized as tools to assist others if we are blessed to do so.
Born and raised in Austin, Texas, I am what they call a “Unicorn” in my city. I grew up on the northeast side of town, which has gone under its fair share of gentrification, so most may know it best as “Central Austin .”This neighborhood east of I35 has contributed to my evolution in life. I was always a peculiar child, multi-dimensional, and never fit in a particular box. You could find me on any given day laughing, dancing along to music videos, searching for the meaning of life, collecting stones, and making up dances in my room. Becoming the Jasmeen, you all see today was a journey back to this little girl I’m describing. Somewhere along the way, life unfolded in a series of unfortunate events… fortunately. If it weren’t for the ideologies of “who I am supposed to be” everyone, including myself, filled me with, I wouldn’t have experienced the woman I am today. It wasn’t until my early 30’s that I began excavating all things that weren’t true to my essence.
That leads me to my why! Due to the family history of mental health challenges and going through my fair share of trauma, I determined I wanted answers and meaning! After many challenging life changes occurring when I turned 30 in 2015, I began to search for myself again. Experiencing divorce, homelessness, and bankruptcy pushed me into a deep depression. I dove into religion, spirituality, astrology, psychology, and other divination practices to understand myself, others, and the world around me. Throughout my life, I have been baptized in several different religions and adopted various beliefs searching for meaning or connection to something bigger than myself. In 2017, I enrolled in Austin’s only HBCU, Huston-Tillotson University, to pursue my psychology bachelor’s. I wanted to discover the world outside of me and the world within me, so I started with the psyche. Our external worlds and how we experience them are just a reflection of what brews internally. I was a single woman with children, working two full-time jobs and going to school full time! While pursuing my degree, I studied astrology, transpersonal psychology, and divination intensely. The mental, emotional, and financial stress that I encountered seemed to make sense as I dug deeper and deeper. Through these studies, isolation, consistency, discipline, and devotion, I built a solid relationship to self and Source (The Most High). The level of self-awareness I developed during this time is truly priceless.
In the Fall of 2018, I was at yet another crossroad in my life. Amidst the confusion around me, I tapped into self-love and created House of Chiron, LLC. As if I needed more to add to my plate, I developed a business while in school, working full time and mothering. By the winter of 2020, I resigned as a Contract Specialist for the University of Texas at Austin, utterly unaware of the adversity the pandemic would introduce to me and my business. Living in such unorthodox times, I was surprised to keep House of Chiron afloat! I suppose the timing was right; I am an astrologer, after all. House of Chiron has expanded and grown in ways unimagined since I decided to trust my calling, pursue my purpose and dive headfirst into the abyss.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey back to me has not been an easy one at all! I put myself through tests, trials and received many triumphs. Above any external force attempting to stop me, I have tried to stop myself more. We are our biggest enemies and our most significant support. Getting beyond the imposter syndrome while being judged for my practices, using astrology, and just being me is a different level of perseverance. Astrology and therapy are becoming more mainstream, but that has not always been the case. The obstacles of making these tools accessible for those who typically wouldn’t consider utilizing astrology or seeking therapy as options for healing have been the major challenge.
On another end of the spectrum, the challenges I have faced with pursuing my path and purpose stemmed from within me. I had to unlearn so many false beliefs and ideologies that were not mine to hold. The life I lived up to the point of creating House of Chiron assisted in creating the mental, spiritual, financial, and emotional blockages that kept me from truly living my greatness. The ability to understand my path is my path alone, and it will not look like anyone else’s, has assisted me with believing in myself even more than ever. My purpose is outlined, created, and curated by something bigger than myself; I am just here to play the role I signed up for.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The name House of Chiron comes from a combination of terms in astrology. The “House” in House of Chiron comes from the house systems in astrology, which determine the various areas of life we experience. We have 12 houses in astrology, all correlating to a planet and a zodiac sign. Chiron is an asteroid named from ancient Greek and Egyptian mythology. Also known as the “Wounded Healer” in astrology, Chiron connects to our deepest wounds, knowledge, and healing. Chiron in our birth charts shows where we hold our emotional baggage and contains our most significant power. Here, feelings of shame, abandonment, low self-esteem, and fears of unacceptance are birthed. In ancient Egyptian astrology, Chiron goes by Anubis, the God of the afterlife or lost souls. In the stories of both Anubis (Egyptian) and Chiron (Greek), their painful childhoods caused immense suffering that forced them to develop compassion, discernment, and the ability to assist others through pain. The pain we experience in our suffering can be transmuted into our most extraordinary power and purpose in life. The services I offer are unconventional at best, but they do not have to be. I am a mindset coach who uses astrology as a tool to assist individuals through challenging life circumstances. My mission is to make astrology digestible and mental health tips available to everyone, especially those who face disparities in receiving the needed help. There is a healing component to what I offer. You give me your birth date, time of birth, and birth location. I return a complete analysis of your life, answers, awareness, and guidance. Like a ball of yarn completely detangled for you to understand why you possess those perceived complicated patterns, triggers, and passions for random things. I use my background, resources, and experience with psychology in connection with astrology to help you understand your purpose and reason.
I have recently added Reiki to the list of services that I offer. I became a certified Reiki Master for my 36th birthday. Reiki is a Japanese form of alternative medicine called energy healing. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing. A “universal energy” is transferred through the practitioner’s palms to the patient to encourage emotional or physical healing. Typically, if there has been bodily injury or emotional pain, energy can stagnate in the body. Energy blocks can create mental or even physical illness. Reiki helps bring the natural flow of energy in our bodies back into balance. In addition, to astrology chart analysis and Reiki, I have a membership option where members receive astrology readings, a new moon ceremony, and a reiki session each month. Along with these services, we have a community chat forum where questions are answered and insight can be shared. I have developed eBooks and tools to assist the members with understanding astrology on a fundamental level to understand their charts.
I am proud to offer the tools, tips, and services that I do in a way that is digestible, fun, and creative. I take the language of astrology, the healing of Reiki, and the mystery of psychology and make it relatable. Healing isn’t one size fits all, and that is my approach to each client. House of Chiron thrives on the phrase, “Self-awareness is key!” Our branding reflects these with the skeleton key symbol as it looks a lot like the astrology glyph for Chiron.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Astrology, therapy, and alternative healing methods are becoming more mainstream! In the coming year, I am heading back to school for my Master’s in Social Work to offer therapy in the way that I desire genuinely. Becoming a licensed therapist will expand House of Chiron and my reach as a healer. I see House of Chiron expanding into a school that teaches aspiring astrologers and those who want to understand their charts. In addition, House of Chiron will offer reiki courses and we are launching our first product line! Chiron Candles are coming soon! Last but not least, we have added another astrologer to the team, Seven Durant!
I am living the life I have always dreamed. I have healed many parts of my being with the same tools that I offer others. When you heal, life offers a different experience, even through the challenges. I have a wonderful support system through my friends, community, sisterhood, and my spouse. I now have been given more responsibility to nurture two more additional children by becoming a blended family. These are things that matter to me the most, everything else is just the Universe showing out in my life. I aim to give others the tools to have the same experience with the life they determine to create…whatever that may look like.
