Community Highlights: Meet Jorge Chavez of NeuroLimits Clinic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Chavez.

Hi Jorge, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.

I was born in Mexico and spent much of my childhood moving from place to place after my parents’ divorce, an experience that was both disorienting and formative. Growing up, therapy wasn’t something people in my culture openly discussed. Emotional struggles were often minimized, and mental health was rarely a topic at the table.

Despite always being fascinated by human behavior, I initially pursued civil engineering because it felt like the “right” and respectable path. Over time, I realized that the work didn’t fulfill me. I wanted to understand people, not structures. Dropping out of engineering school was one of the hardest and most liberating choices I’ve made. It allowed me to follow my true calling.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s in clinical psychology from Columbia University, and later a PhD in clinical psychology from Long Island University Brooklyn. Since then, I’ve built a career as a licensed psychologist, continuously expanding my training by becoming certified in PACT couples counseling, EMDR trauma therapy, and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy. I find the work incredibly rewarding and validating as I can provide to others the guidance I wish I had experienced growing up.

In recent years, my personal life reshaped my professional journey. Both of my daughters were diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia, and later my wife discovered she had been living with undiagnosed ADHD her entire life. That realization opened my eyes to how deeply our brains shape our experiences and how misunderstood these conditions can be.

For the past three years, I have immersed myself in neurofeedback and other emerging technologies that can transform how we understand and treat mental health. Reconnecting with a high school friend, Dr. Antony Passaro, a neuroscientist, we began to imagine a clinic that integrates psychology and cutting-edge brain technology. Our shared vision became **Neurolimits**, a place where science, compassion, and innovation meet.

Our goal is simple but powerful: to make therapy and advanced brain-based tools accessible to everyday people, parents, couples, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of themselves.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Personally?

Moving to the US when I was 16 was very disorienting. As well having to decide to drop out of engineering school.

Professionally?

Finding a way to help see the potential of our clinic was initially challenging, but I think every day more people realized the need for consolidated care.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about NeuroLimits Clinic ?
NeuroLimits is an Austin-based neuro-wellness clinic bringing together the most advanced technologies in neuroscience, psychology, and wellness to restore and optimize brain function. We specialize in comprehensive, evidence-based programs that enhance focus, mood, sleep, and cognitive performance by serving both individuals with clinical concerns and those striving for peak mental clarity and resilience.

What sets Neurolimits apart is our fully integrated approach. Our team developed AURA, an AI-powered EEG analytics platform that replaces outdated QEEG methods with precise, data-driven insights into each person’s neural health. We combine that diagnostic power with personalized treatments such as rTMS, advanced neurofeedback for videos and games using proprietary approaches, trimodal stimulation (light, sound, and vibration), clinical neuropsychological assessment, sleep studies, and diet and lifestyle optimization. All of which is delivered within a cohesive framework that targets the brain, body, and behavior together.

No other clinic in Austin (or the world) offers this level of integration between AI diagnostics, clinical psychology, and neuromodulation under one roof. NeuroLimits is also actively pushing the frontiers of neuroscience through clinical research conducted at our facility, exploring new ways to measure and enhance human brain performance.

What makes you happy?
Striving to find the balance between drive and gratitude. Hopefully one day I figure it out!
