Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Mora
Jorge, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Jorge Mora, I come from Venezuela, and I have been living in the United States for 9 years. My journey in the United States began in Virginia when I moved in with my cousin, who introduced me to this industry. He has nearly two decades of experience in every aspect of our field and has been a major influence on me. It was through him that I discovered paint protection film. At the time, I was working in construction and noticed him working in a clean, air-conditioned environment, applying stickers to cars. I was fascinated because I soon realized it wasn’t just about stickers—the skills and knowledge required for the job were truly impressive. So, every day after work, I would stay with him in his workshop, watching his techniques and offering to help in order to learn.
After a few months, he gave me the opportunity to work with him, and that’s how my journey in this industry began. I started by doing detailing and paint corrections, which taught me how to perfect a car’s finish, and my cousin instilled in me the importance of perfection. After my time in Virginia, I moved to Miami, Florida, where I had the opportunity to learn additional skills, such as window tinting and vinyl wrapping. It was also during that period that I first worked independently, using my expertise in paint corrections and coatings. However, after my initial solo experience, I realized how challenging it was and how much I still had to learn. Following that unsuccessful venture, I returned to working in a workshop. At the same time, I began planning a move to Indiana, where I worked at Clear Bra Indy—the biggest workshop in the Midwest at that time.
There, I was able to work in a more professional environment, earn certifications, and focus on refining my skills and knowledge. Later, one of the biggest opportunities in my career came when I moved to Dallas to work at a dealership with the largest pre-owned exotic car inventory in the U.S., called Tactical Fleet. With them, I had the chance to work with an impressive number of high-end cars, which allowed me to perfect my skills in paint protection film, ceramic coatings, and window tint. This experience not only refined my techniques but also gave me the confidence to work on some of the most exclusive vehicles in the industry.
While living in Dallas, I visited Austin several times and fell in love with the city. Four years ago, I moved here, worked briefly at Xpel’s corporate store, and before founding APS, I partnered with a local workshop. Although that partnership did not succeed, it provided me with the experience necessary to establish what APS is today
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the first challenges I faced was the language barrier. Moving to a new country and starting over was a drastic change, and adapting to a completely different life was not easy. In addition, my inexperience led me to make many mistakes along the way. However, every challenge and setback became an opportunity to learn and grow—not only within the industry but also on a personal level. Every obstacle has shaped my journey, helping me gain valuable experience
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
APS is a customer services business that just happens to be really good at paint protection film, window tint, and ceramic coatings—our main services. What makes us different is that we keep things real. We focus on offering honest advice, high-quality work, and a personalized experience instead of just selling a product.
We’ve worked on everything from daily drivers to high-end exotics, but at the end of the day, what matters most to us is making sure every customer feels confident in their investment. Whether it’s protecting a brand-new car or bringing new life to an older one, we treat every job with the same level of care and attention to detail.
APS isn’t just about protecting cars—it’s about doing things the right way and creating a great experience for our customers in Austin
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Make sure your ‘why’ is strong enough to withstand any challenge that comes your way. This won’t be an easy journey, but you have to stay focused on your goals and remember who you’re doing this for.
Also, try to find something positive in every situation—every challenge is an opportunity to learn and improve. Keep pushing forward, stay committed, and trust the process.
