Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Mendoza.
Hi Joseph, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started cooking when I was young. My father taught me many cooking basics since he was in the food industry for about 20 years. I got my fundamentals of discipline through 11 years in the Army. I’ve been in the restaurant industry on and off for about 6 years. I am a proud graduate of Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts. I started my business years ago with an idea of how to conduct it. I finally opened Backyard Burgers LLC in August of 2023.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not. My struggles came from the constant reading and understanding of business management. I was learning about the different permits, rules, and regulations of owning a business. I always thought it was name your business, set your concept, and go.
Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us more about your business next.
We are a group of Texas-trained guys who decided to share our ability to make good food fast. Each of our team members has a unique style of cooking that meshes with a great team. All of our sauces and seasonings are made in-house. We believe in our motto that if you like our food, we will see you again. Our smash burgers and sliders are our specialty. Our dedication to excellent service sets us apart from other food trucks. Our service to you ends when you leave happy.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Can you share something that might surprise us?
Even though I am a chef, I’m good at video games.
