Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Clingman
Hi Katie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Katie Clingman and I’m the founder of Settled In Soundly, a professional home organization company based in Austin, Texas. I grew up in Bethesda, Maryland, and first moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas, where I double majored in architecture and architectural engineering. After graduation I earned my EIT (engineer-in-training) certificate and accepted a role as a façade engineer with Arup, where I spent several years collaborating with architects on high profile international projects. While in this role, I became an expert in 3D modeling and AutoCAD. I now use this expertise and my design background to elevate professional organizing services to a new level.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been mostly smooth, but of course there have been some challenges along the way. Luckily, I love learning, and as an engineer, I’m a bit obsessed with optimizing systems and spaces. I’m continually refining our processes to improve our client experience and backend efficiency.

Our organizing services are designed for busy professionals who crave an organized home, but don’t have the time to create it themselves. We handle all the details – all clients need to do is share their preferences and provide occasional feedback!
For each project, I create 2D and/or 3D models of a client’s home with either a LiDAR scan on my iPad or hand measurements that I enter in CAD. I then populate the scaled models with suggested organizing products and outline a vision for the transformation. Once the client approves the vision, my team and I get to work executing it!
Clients love this level of detail and thoughtfulness, and it creates a smooth experience because everyone has the same expectations for the results. There are no surprises.

That’s a tough question! I have so many wonderful childhood memories. One that stands out is my first trip to Japan. I was impressed with how efficient and organized everything was!
