Community Highlights: Meet Michelle Nemirovsky of Guestlist

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Nemirovsky.

Hi Michelle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My husband, Fede, and I got married in December 2023 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was a destination wedding for most of our guests, and because everyone was flying in from different places, there were so many moving parts. Like most couples, we built a wedding website, but very quickly we realized it wasn’t solving the problem we actually had, which was communication.

We wanted an easy way to send updates and announcements, especially since so much of the fun around our wedding happened outside the wedding day itself. A few days before the wedding, for example, we spontaneously invited friends to meet us at a bar, and it became one of our favorite memories. But coordinating things like that, along with group meetups, airport rides, and travel plans, relied on scattered texts and group chats. We kept wishing there was one simple place for everything.

We also wanted our guests to be able to connect with each other. Since everyone was traveling, it would have been helpful for people to coordinate transportation, make dinner plans, or simply know who else was in town.

That was when it became clear that the standard wedding website was not enough. What we really needed was a private app where guests could see updates, ask questions, share their own plans, and eventually upload their photos in one shared space.

I am a designer and Fede is a software engineer, so instead of piecing together different tools, we decided to build exactly what we needed for our own wedding. We worked on it during the months leading up to the trip and launched the first version of Guestlist right on time for Buenos Aires.

It ended up being a huge hit. Guests used the feed to ask questions, coordinate meetups, and share recommendations. We posted updates and reminders. And after the wedding, our shared photo album filled up with hundreds of photos from every guest, all in one place instead of buried in text threads.

Seeing how naturally everyone used it made us realize this was not just a personal project. It solved a real problem that almost every couple experiences, whether their wedding is local or a destination. So we refined what we built for ourselves and released it publicly.

Today, Guestlist is becoming the app we wish existed when we were planning. It brings all the details together, helps guests feel connected, and makes the entire experience easier and more fun for everyone involved.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. We built Guestlist for our own wedding, so turning it into a real product meant figuring everything out as we went. It is just the two of us, so we handle design, engineering, customer support, marketing, and growth on our own. That has been exciting but also overwhelming at times.

Awareness has also been a challenge. The wedding industry is crowded, and even though couples love the app once they use it, getting in front of them takes work. And as the app has grown, we have had to constantly improve it, fix unexpected issues, and build new features while keeping the experience simple.

Balancing all of this with being new parents has added its own layer of chaos, but the positive feedback from couples makes every challenge feel worth it!

As you know, we’re big fans of Guestlist. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Guestlist is a private social app for weddings. It brings all the important wedding information into one place and makes it easy for couples to stay connected with their guests before, during, and after the wedding. Couples can share their schedule, FAQs, travel details, updates, and announcements. Guests can ask questions, meet each other, coordinate plans, and upload their photos into a shared album that everyone can enjoy.

What sets Guestlist apart is how simple it feels. It is designed to look and function like the apps people already use every day, so guests actually engage with it. Instead of expecting people to check a wedding website or search through text threads, everything lives in one app that updates in real time.

We are also proud that it was created by people who genuinely needed it. We built Guestlist for our own destination wedding, and the way our guests used it shaped the entire experience. That personal origin keeps the product very grounded. We do not build features for the sake of having more. We build what makes the wedding experience easier and more fun for real couples and their guests.

We want readers to know that Guestlist is more than another wedding tool. It creates a shared space where everyone feels included, informed, and connected. Whether a wedding has 20 guests or 200, it gives couples peace of mind and helps guests feel taken care of.

Our goal is to become the simplest and most enjoyable way to bring people together around one of the most meaningful moments in their lives.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I would love for readers to know that Guestlist was created with a lot of heart. We built it because we wanted our own wedding to feel connected and easy for everyone, and it has been incredibly meaningful to see other couples use it in the same way. One of the highlights for us this year was being featured in Brides Magazine as one of the best wedding apps, which was a really special moment for a product that began as something we built for ourselves.

If you are planning a wedding or know someone who is, we would love for you to try the app and share your experience with us. Real feedback from couples helps us shape the product and build something that truly supports people during such an important season of life.

And mostly, I want to remind couples that even though wedding planning can feel overwhelming, it should also feel joyful. If Guestlist can take even a little bit of stress off your plate, that makes this entire journey worth it for us.
