Community Highlights: Meet Nick Anderson of Too Quick Athletics LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Anderson

Hi Nick, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Started coaching an aau team as part of an internship for my sports management major in Belton,Texas for a school by the name of University of Mary-Hardin Baylor. One of the parents asked me can I train their daughter named Emma Perez which was down in South Austin so I drove over an hour every other day to train this 1 kid for $25 in gyms or parks where we could find the space. And then I moved down to South Austin with my then fiancée now wife Jade, and continued to train Emma and realizing hey they don’t really have anyone down south to train these kids nor are they really understanding what training is. So this area is not known too much for being the wealthier so I would keep cost low and just grind so families can get highly level training for low cost. This was not going to be the “you get what you paid for “ kind of mentality.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Man it is has been plenty of struggles along this journey starting with the biggest thing lack of gym space having to hustle up space just to get some quality work in and not get hit over the head with gym fees. I had a lot of people that may have noticed me from just always being in the gym so they wanted me to join their organization but instead I would ask for advice instead, but no one really wanted to give me advice just wanted to kind of in my opinion hold me back and keep me under their wing but my stubborn and resilience is a great trait of mine.

As you know, we’re big fans of Too Quick Athletics LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a brand that specializes in basketball but along the way helps the youth realize their full potential in life. I specialize in ball handling and footwork but in my opinion can teach it all as far as how to do the skill and how to apply it in a live setting. As well and work on making reads. What sets me apart from others is tough cause I don’t really pay attention to others I think the ability to be myself at all times and doing things my way can be something that separates me. Because this is a business of really word to mouth I think the ability to grow a brand from ground zero is what I’m most proud of that when people see me they know what I’m about, I am elevating my I’m not forgetting the whole reason I started doing this number 1 for the love of the game and number 2 for people who can’t afford the “high level” training. We off group and one on one sessions and some times if you the kids need someone to listen to their problems that’s not a parent or anyone I’m always here for that too.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think luck has played a huge role and by luck I mean lucky I have a beautiful and understanding wife that allows me to be in the gym all these hours and mentor these kids as well as open our homes to a lot of kids over the year so the lucky part is I found her and everything is a product of that and God and a lot of hard work . When you have a wife like mine, a God like mine and A Work ethic like mine you don’t need luck you create your own luck. A blessing in disguise is when I tore my ACL going into my last season of playing college basketball at UMHB and that immediately helped shift my focus to what now it was a very depressing time and I have be came strong because of it and my Dad told me right after my achilles surgery that all I’m doing in a way of you are becoming more relatable. Dealing with 2 of the worst injuries in sports and still moving and training and getting up and down with my kids shows them a real life example of heart and determination.
