Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Baird
Hi Nikki, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in Austin and have watched the city go from a small town to the booming metropolis it is today. Austin still has the same charm but with even more to offer. I am so fortunate to call it my home.
I have a B.F.A. in Theatre from TCU. Acting is all about understanding humans. The exploration of human nature and what makes people tick is endlessly fascinating! My desire to work with people and my outgoing personality led me first to work in sales and marketing and after years of debating I made the jump to Real Estate and have not looked back.
My love of people and helping guide them coupled with my enthusiasm for Austin has made Real Estate an amazing career – it’s the perfect fit for my inquisitive nature, compassion, and spirit.
Since the role of a Real Estate Broker Associate is incredibly hands-on I am able to truly make an impact for my clients whether they are looking to buy their first home, invest, sell, buy for a loved one and more.
When I am not helping clients I enjoy working out at HEAT Bootcamp, taking acting classes at Carol Hickey Acting Studio, acting in local film projects, writing, cooking (usually with my husband), traveling, wine and wine tasting, trying new restaurants, and time with my hubby, cats, friends and family. I am detail oriented so I enjoy putting together all the finishing touches for events! I keep a running list of places I want to try next including restaurants, shops, cities and countries. I always say: “I haven’t been yet but it’s on my list!” Friends often come to me for restaurant recommendations and more. I also make Real Estate themed videos which can be found on my Instagram, NikkiBATX.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting in Real Estate was quite challenging as you are building a referral based business from nothing while learning the contracts and ins and outs (which is like learning a new language). In the beginning I felt overwhelmed, especially working for 100% commission and figuring out the nuts and bolts. Real Estate is so hands on it really takes several transactions to begin to grasp. I serendipitously met my mentor, Broker and friend, Broker-owner of Austin Home Girls, Reinae Kessler at a showing and we just clicked. She was instrumental in my growth and guidance. Plus she is one of my biggest cheerleaders. A good mentor can change your life!

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
There’s a quote about luck being when opportunity and persistence collide and I wholeheartedly believe this. So much of luck is the building blocks you place for yourself, the people in your corner and your outlook on life.
