Community Highlights: Meet Patrick Young of Ken’s Heating and Air

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Young.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have over 20 years of experience in the HVAC industry, starting my career working for a McDonald’s franchise of 20 stores, a cornerstone in the Austin community. In 2011 I got my contractors license and started my own hvac company part-time. In 2022, when the franchise owners sold, I took a leap of faith and committed to growing my own business full-time. Through dedication and a focus on honest, quality service, I expanded my company and acquired an established HVAC business(Ken’s Heating and Air) in Marble Falls, TX, in 2023. Serving others and providing trustworthy service has always been my passion.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges in this industry is competing with unlicensed and uninsured individuals who offer lower prices but provide no warranties or accountability. When issues arise with the equipment, customers are often unable to reach the people who performed the work. Unfortunately, this reflects poorly on licensed contractors who operate ethically, carry proper insurance, and stand behind their work. Despite these challenges, I remain committed to doing things the right way and providing reliable, honest service to my customers.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I own and operate a licensed and insured HVAC business built on quality, integrity, and accountability. We specialize in residential and light commercial heating and air conditioning services, including diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and system replacements. What sets us apart is our commitment to doing the job right, even when it costs us more. If we make a mistake or something isn’t right, we stand behind our work and take responsibility.

In an industry where shortcuts are common, we choose integrity over quick profit. We provide honest recommendations, clear communication, and dependable service, and we back our work with warranties and follow through. Brand wise, I am most proud of the trust we’ve built with our customers and our reputation for reliability. My belief is simple: if we consistently deliver quality and integrity, the money will follow. I want readers to know that when they choose our company, they are choosing professionalism, accountability, and service they can rely on long after the job is done.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I recommend that anyone in business have a mentor. Having a mentor means admitting you don’t know everything and being willing to learn from someone who’s already been through it. It allows you to avoid many of the common mistakes you would otherwise make relying only on your own judgment.

What has worked well for me is staying open, asking questions, and surrounding myself with people who are more experienced in areas where I want to grow. Networking isn’t just about exchanging business cards it’s about building real relationships, listening, and learning. When you approach it with humility and a genuine desire to improve, the right mentors and connections tend to follow.
