Community Highlights: Meet Shae Stinson of Sol Life Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shae Stinson.

Shae Stinson

Hi Shae, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
About 4 years ago, I woke one morning with a list of strange symptoms that I did not have the night before. My skin was covered in blisters, and I had painful sensations along with deep-rooted itching. I tried to see my doctor, but it took a few days. After a quick exam, it was determined that I had contact dermatitis, and I left with 5 prescriptions. The prescriptions helped for a couple of days, but that was all. After another appointment, I was told I had Eczema and that managing the symptoms was all I could hope for. I was devastated. At that time, I was not sleeping; I could only take a cold shower and was consumed with the itching, all while working full-time as an Executive Assistant. I had more questions than answers. The illness put me on a quest to find the root cause and to heal. I began researching herbal and plant-based medicines. I started researching foods, sugars, dairy, vitamins, minerals, and meditation. A year later, after completely revamping my diet, my products, and my state of being, my symptoms started to fade. In that moment of healing, an idea was born: To bring organic herbal and plant-based medicines to my community. I began coursework to become a Holistic Wellness Coach. I also became certified in herbal medicine making and crystal healing. I resigned as an executive assistant in December 2022 and opened Sol Life Studio in January 2023. At Sol Life, I can share my story of healing naturally and give people hope that their bodies can heal, too.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I knew nothing about opening a small business since I had only worked in an office setting for most of my adult life. A huge part of my journey was learning all about it. I had meetings with local small business owners to gain insight. I met with an attorney, an accountant, a bank, a marketing agency, and a real estate agent. Slowly but surely, I was moving forward with this new dream of mine. I was scared and uncomfortable throughout the process but kept doing it anyway. It was now a conviction in my heart that this store had to come to life.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Sol Life Studio is a plant and herbal medicine store. We carry a huge selection of natural wellness products. Our main medicine maker grows most of their herbs, honoring the Permaculture Gardening method. This method is based on the Native American practice of honoring the plants, the earth, and the flow of nature. All the herbal tinctures they produce are beautiful healing medicines. We also carry all-natural and organic skincare, hair care, oral care, tea blends, incense, essential oils, ethically sourced crystals, and dried medicinal organic herbs. I offer one-on-one Holistic Health Sessions to help people create a plan for healing. One of the most important aspects of Sol Life is that everything in the store is organic, non-GMO, ethically sourced, fairly traded, and made with good intentions. Our mission is that everything we do is for the highest good.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I have learned is that trusting your heart and your gut is imperative for success in business and healing.
