Today we’d like to introduce you to Zabrina Garcia.
Hi Zabrina , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey started in Tampa Florida where I was born and raised , I was always had love and passion for everything beauty ever since middle school going into high school that’s when i started to begin my makeup journey. I would always do my make up for school and my peers noticed that I was really good then they asked me to do their prom make up and I was only charging $20. That’s when I noticed I’m actually good at this. I can make some money in the future. When I was in high school I really loved anatomy and I wanted to be a doctor specifically a dermatologist because I loved skincare but I couldn’t afford to go to college I did the next best thing and did my research. That’s when I found out about esthetics and after I graduated, I went to esthetician school and became an esthetician. After becoming an esthetician, I did makeup professionally in Florida and then my family decided to move to Austin, Texas, and this is where my esthetics career really started. I worked at spas and a waxing company and after seven years of working for someone else, I decided I should be my own boss, and I took the risk and opened La Femme Beauty.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. There’s been ups and downs whether it be financially ,keeping up with clients , gaining clientele also with the economy, and then there’s slow seasons in the beauty industry, so it hasn’t been easy, but I’m glad I did it and I keep going because there’s been times where I wanted to give up, but then I tell myself this is my dream. I’m not gonna give up. I know it will pay off when I make it big , I’m not where I wanna be but I know I’ll get there.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My small business is called a la Femme Beauty. The name means the woman in French. I decided to go with a French name because I love the French language and I thought it was unique and I felt it was an empowering name for my business because my main goal is to empower woman and make them feel beautiful in their own skin, so that’s why I named it La femme beauty. I rent a studio in round rock. I specialize in all things esthetics so like facials, full body waxing , eyebrows, lash lifts and professional make up. I’m mostly known for waxing , and eyebrow services like brow lamination ,brow tinting and my amazing customized facials. What sets me apart from others is I take my time and I truly care about each one of my clients. I listen to their needs and make them feel relaxed, beautiful and empowered. I truly love what I do and when you love what you do it shows in your work and it doesn’t feel like work and it’s my happy place. What I want the readers to know about my business its a one of a kind experience and it’s all about you. Everything is customized specifically for you and catered to your needs. Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up since I was a little girl, I was always a girly girl , I was sassy my favorite color was pink of course. My mom always said I acted like a little grown up , my sister was. 10 years older then me i wanted to be just like her. I always loved to sing ever since I was little, I would memorize every word to Alicia Keys if I ain’t got you or say my name by Destiny’s Child my sister is listening to R&B, so that’s where that influence came from. I was always into beauty from a young age because my aunts were beautician so they would do my hair and I used to love how they did their hair and their make up so I fell in love with beauty at a very young age going into teen years. I did cheer and that was something I was passionate about growing up. Also my favorite movie as a little girl was bring it on, so I knew I wanted to be a cheerleader when I was old enough to do it. My teen years I was really into YouTube like the beauty Grus of that era Jaclyn hill, Nicole Guerriero , Carli bybel and Bethany mota I learned how to do make up through YouTube. A lot of my beauty inspiration came from that too.
