Conversations with Amanda Cofield

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Cofield.

Hi Amanda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In 2020, life shifted dramatically when I became a single mom with no degree, no career, and a pressing need to support my family. With limited options but a deep love for flowers, design, and events, I decided to take a chance on myself. I poured countless hours into watching videos, researching the industry, and learning everything I could about floral design. With determination and a lot of faith, I dove in headfirst and began creating arrangements from my kitchen table. What started as a way to make ends meet quickly blossomed into a true passion. Over the past five years, my flower business has grown beyond what I ever imagined, and I’m incredibly thankful for every opportunity, challenge, and bouquet that’s brought me to where I am today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been without its challenges, but overall, the road has been surprisingly smooth. Like any new business owner, I faced steep learning curves—especially when it came to the behind-the-scenes operations like pricing, contracts, and managing logistics. But because I’m so passionate about what I do, I’ve been able to learn quickly and adapt to whatever comes my way. The design side has felt like second nature; it’s where I thrive and feel most inspired. There have been bumps, of course—moments of doubt, long nights, and lessons learned the hard way—but they’ve all been part of the journey. It’s been equal parts growth and joy, and I can honestly say I’ve had so much fun building something I truly love.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m the owner and lead designer of a floral business that specializes in weddings and events. I create custom floral designs that reflect each couple’s unique style and story, with an emphasis on lush, romantic arrangements and thoughtful details. What truly sets my work apart is the personal touch I bring to every event—I’m deeply involved from the first consultation to the final setup, and I pour my heart into every piece I create. I don’t just see flowers as decorations; I see them as a way to elevate moments and create lasting memories. My background as a self-taught designer means I’ve built everything from the ground up with passion and intention, which gives me a fresh perspective and a lot of creative freedom. At the end of the day, I want every client to feel seen, cared for, and wowed by the beauty we create together.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
At the heart of my success is a combination of hard work, determination, and sheer willpower. I started this journey out of necessity, but what’s carried me through and helped me grow has been my unwavering commitment to keep going, no matter what. There’s a certain kind of grit that comes from doing something not just because you want to, but because you have to—and that’s been my fuel. I’ve had to figure things out quickly, adapt on the fly, and constantly push myself to learn and evolve. But beyond survival, it’s been the deep love I have for what I do that’s kept me grounded and motivated. I genuinely care about the people I work with and the work I create, and I think that authenticity, paired with relentless drive, has made all the difference.
