Conversations with Andrea Rye Gonzalez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Rye Gonzalez.

Hi Andrea, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After 23 years as a Secondary English educator, I made a deliberate decision to change careers. I still wanted to serve my community and help people in a meaningful way. Healthcare gave me that opportunity.

I saw how confusing and overwhelming healthcare decisions can be. I also saw how many people were making choices without truly understanding their options. I knew there was a better way to guide and support them.

I became an independent health insurance broker so I could advocate for my clients. I am directly contracted with over 20 insurance carriers, which allows me to offer real choices instead of pushing a single solution.

For more than 15 years, I’ve been proud to serve my community by helping individuals and families find affordable, quality health coverage. I approach every client relationship with care, patience, and honesty.

I work closely with my clients to navigate a constantly changing healthcare landscape. My goal is simple. To protect the people who matter most to you with coverage that truly fits your needs.

I don’t just help people choose plans. I help them feel confident in their decisions.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. Not even close.

Leaving a 23-year career in education was a major shift. I had to start over in a completely different industry. I had to learn complex regulations, constantly changing plans, and an industry that does not slow down for anyone.

Healthcare is complicated by design. That was one of the biggest challenges. Staying current with policy changes, carrier updates, and compliance requirements takes constant focus and discipline.

Building trust was another hurdle. Many people have been burned by bad experiences with insurance. Earning confidence meant showing up consistently, educating instead of selling, and always putting clients first.

There were long hours. There was uncertainty. There was a steep learning curve.

What kept me going was purpose. Every challenge reinforced why I chose this path. People need clarity. People need advocacy. People need someone willing to go the extra mile.

The road wasn’t smooth, but it was worth it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I help individuals, families, and small business owners make sense of healthcare and health insurance. I specialize in guiding people through their options so they can choose coverage that actually fits their lives, their health needs, and their budget.

I am an independent broker, directly contracted with over 20 insurance carriers. That allows me to offer real choice instead of steering clients toward a single plan. I focus on education first, clarity second, and enrollment only after people truly understand what they are choosing.

I’m known for being thorough, accessible, and deeply invested in my clients. I don’t disappear after enrollment. I stay involved. I help with questions, changes, and ongoing support as life evolves.

What I am most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. Many come through referrals. That tells me I’m doing this the right way.

What sets me apart is how personal my approach is. I treat every client like I would my own family. I listen carefully. I explain without pressure. I advocate when things get complicated.

This work isn’t about selling insurance. It’s about protecting people and giving them peace of mind.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as trust earned and peace of mind delivered.

In my work, success means my clients feel confident in their coverage. They understand their options. They know they have someone in their corner when questions arise or challenges appear. It means building long-term relationships rather than quick transactions. It’s seeing clients return year after year and refer their family and friends because they trust the care and guidance I provide.

Success also means doing work that aligns with my values. Service. Integrity. Advocacy. If I can help people feel protected, informed, and supported, then I consider that a successful career.

On a personal level, I define success as living with integrity and purpose. It means showing up fully in my roles as a professional, a family member, and a community member. It means staying true to my values even when the path is not the easiest.

Success is balance. Time for the people I love. Time for meaningful work. Time to give back. It is also growth. Learning from challenges. Staying curious. Becoming better through experience.

At the end of the day, success is knowing I made a positive impact and lived a life I am proud of.
