Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassidy de Kooker.
Hi Cassidy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Thank you so much for this opportunity to share a bit about myself! To get started, my name is Cassidy, and I’m the Creator and Founder of Kingdom Creations. I am married to my first and only love, David, and we are going on 6 wonderful years together. Born and raised in South Africa, we are now living in beautiful Austin, Texas, by the grace of God! I have been a professional dancer for 7 years now, as well as a personal trainer. One of my passions in life is encouraging people and sharing the Love of Jesus with them, in whatever form that takes place. It truly brings me joy! Towards the end of 2022, I felt a strong sense from the Holy Spirit that the Lord was calling me to use this passion and be obedient in sharing His truth and living word with the world. Fast forward a couple of months, I decided to launch my own business where I can create and share Faith-Filled Encouragement in the form of Wall Art Banners, Posters, and so much more for people’s homes. I hope that whatever my customers may order from Kingdom Creations will fill their homes with a daily reminder of God’s unwavering faithfulness, amazing grace, and unending love for us all.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being an entrepreneur in a new country certainly comes with challenges in learning how things operate differently here. One of the challenges I faced early on was stepping back from being so active in the studio and dancing professionally to sitting behind a computer screen for so many hours a day; I was not used to that kind of lifestyle shift! Thankfully, by the grace of God, I have very recently been able to find a happy medium of getting back into dancing professionally and simultaneously running my business Kingdom Creations. I am so grateful for my amazing husband, my family back in South Africa, and community of friends on this side of the world that have shown me immense support and been able to share some guidance with me when needed.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As mentioned earlier, I have been a professional contemporary dancer for the past 7 years and I have been very fortunate with the opportunity to dance for singer-songwriter John Legend and dance with contemporary dance company Royal Flux in Los Angeles, CA. I have always been “known” as a dancer, as that was my life from the age of 2 and still is a huge passion of mine! I looked forward to becoming a wife from a very young age, so this is something I would say I am most proud to be, aside from a daughter of The King. The Lord blessed me with a wonderful husband, and each day I want to continue to be the best wife in Christ for him that I can be. What is one thing that sets me apart from others? I would say my passion and commitment to my art form, whether it be dancing or graphic design. I always want to ensure my end product glorifies God and inspires or encourages others.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I have been blessed with a fantastic community of people in so many different fields of business at my church, Christian Life Austin, that have been able to share advice on what worked or didn’t work for them when they first opened their own companies here in ATX, that are now incredibly successful! Both of my parents and in-laws are entrepreneurs and have really inspired me to take that leap of faith, ask questions without fearing peoples response, and most importantly to trust God above all else. I would share some advice with young entrepreneurs: don’t be afraid to ask for help; the worst a person can say is “No.” Continue to educate yourself in research and, above all else, as it says in Proverbs 16:3, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” Thank you again for this opportunity to share a bit about myself.
