Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Gerardino.
Hi Christopher, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Christopher, co-founder and one of the driving forces behind Ristretto. Since launching nearly five years ago, every day has been a sprint on this exhilarating journey. Despite the challenges, our vision has always guided us toward unique and innovative horizons.
Reflecting on our progress, I’m profoundly proud of what we’ve achieved, particularly with our flagship product, the Ristretto 512 First Edition. It’s more than just a product; it represents our commitment to quality and innovation, which we’ve been thrilled to deliver to our customers.
Our journey hasn’t stopped there. We’ve continuously evolved, recently venturing into new territories within the mobility sector. After pioneering in micro-mobility with our e-bikes, I’ve spent the past year spearheading the development of an Adventure E-moto. This exciting addition, the Ristretto Republica, is set to launch later this year, marking a significant expansion in our product line.
A key focus has been optimizing production for the Ristretto 512 to ensure availability—a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. Through steady growth and relentless pursuit of excellence, we’ve laid a solid foundation for Ristretto’s long-term success. I look forward to what the future holds for us and our partners in this dynamic industry.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a challenging journey, especially as we ventured into a new space. We are designing and engineering the Republica, a new adventure mid-size e-motorcycle that requires partnering with the best teams with the necessary capabilities and experience. This has been crucial for our progress as we build a new platform from the ground up. It took time and perseverance, but we managed to get it done, and we are pleased with the progress we’ve made so far. We can’t wait for what’s ahead.
Thanks for sharing that. Please tell us more about your work.
At the moment, I am paying attention to several significant projects. We’re optimizing the Ristretto 512 by testing new parts and creating more accessories. We are also dropping four new colors this summer, and it’s happy to see our second drop in production. Simultaneously, I’m very proud of the significant progress made by the Ristretto Republica. It’s still evolving as we complete the suspension kinematic program. We had to go back to the drawing board to improve the rider position ergonomics while ensuring we stayed within the frame aesthetics, which we are happy with. Additionally, I switched gears between Ristretto and Bonnell earlier this year by taking on the lead designer and marketing director role at Bonnell. I’m pleased to work with talented folks and find new ways to create and share the unique experience of bringing mobility products to market, to which we are proud to contribute.
What changes do you expect to see in your work and the industry over the next five to ten years?
Many more players will likely be in the mobility space, making it exciting. We love seeing new ideas and meeting with other teams to bring out the best in each other. I continue in the space of manufacturing hardware products and product design. There’s much more to create, and we still have many ideas in the archive. We love creating.
