Conversations with Frank Joseph Porcaro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Frank Joseph Porcaro.

Hi Frank Joseph, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up, I witnessed my friends and peers constantly suffering from lack of meaning. Leading them to drug abuse and even suicide. At 18 years old, I was on the same trajectory. After graduating high school, life intervened and I got a full-time in a nursing home, at the same time working as a personal fitness trainer plus several other side hustles. I had a great work ethic because my mother would work 2-3 jobs just to keep the lights on and provide us with a somewhat normal life. This pressure of life, driven me to provide for myself and to not struggle financially like I witnessed from my mother.

During my time (1 year) in the nursing home, I was a rehabilitation aide, and my job was to assist physical and occupational therapists. I would go to the rooms or the inbound patients or residents and would communicate with them and prepare them and bring them to the therapy room. However, many patients were days within passing. I intuitively began to sit with them and ask them questions about their life. After days and days and hundreds of patients, it began to change me as I witness the horrifying reality of those that died with regret.

Some would tell me I regret not forgiving the ones I loved. I regret not furthering my education and providing a better life for my family. I regret not traveling and seeing more of the earth. And on and on, the second observation that moved me into bewilderment was that these humans in their 80’s,90’s and on with little time left didn’t have any direct spiritual understanding of life and death. Some of them were trying to figure it out on those last days.

This had me wonder, what is life all about?

As I observed my life at this time, and the stress and struggle of those around me, then seeing those within days of dying. I was there with this confrontation from reality. That if I don’t take responsibility for my life, then I cannot expect much from it.

I felt there was more than this, more in me to experience.

All at the same time, one of the patient’s brother in law. A man named Charlie, old jolly man in his 80’s would come to visit his sister in law Beatrice everyday. I would see them and just doing my job with presence. Charlie would recognize me and compliment my kindness and would say that I would be very successful one day, and this man bought me lunch every day for one year until Beatrice passed away.

He really touched me and became my grandpa in a way.

He stopped coming to the nursing home without saying goodbye.

Months after leaving this job and moving on to the next stage of my life. I was thinking of Charlie as I was stopped at a traffic light. As I turned to the car next to me, there he was! Charlie.

I got his attention and we pulled over into a Dunkin’ Donuts.

After eating together and catching up, he opened my hand and gave me $50.00

I told him, “I cannot take this” even though I could use it.

He told me a story that when he was in need, a stranger helped him and what he was doing was paying it forward.

I’m that moment, 18 years old, I was having anxiety, depressed and lonely, I was clear that my life, I would learn how to heal my nervous system and about the meaning of life and I would pay it forward and help others.

That people care, and I care about people.

Over the next years, I dedicated to learning psychology, physiology, and human behavior.

My business started as a youth motivational speaker and I would go to Delinquent centers and schools to speak to the kids about understanding their emotions and life skills.

And then, my path led to hosting retreats and events Globally in over 15 countries to thousands of people. Teaching methods on healing their interpersonal relationships, healing trauma in their nervous system, and becoming a balanced and happy human being with skills to regulate, heal, and optimize their own nervous system.

Now I actively see clients internationally and also have multiple group courses for different levels to begin their healing journey.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenge was learning how to think for myself, trust my own intuition, and to communicate with confidence.

Often we come from societal conditioning around Money and how to approach things. These beliefs are limiting and often not true when creating your own business and bringing your own ideas into the world.

You must find role models. And most importantly learn to be yourself and trust yourself.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
