Today we’d like to introduce you to Giselle Salazar.
Hi Giselle , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Absolutely! I began my photography journey in 2012 in New Jersey, starting as a mobile newborn and natural light photographer. What began as a love for capturing tender family moments gradually evolved into a deep passion for fine art and editorial portraiture, as well as glamour-style photography that empowers women to feel beautiful and seen.
Over the years, I developed a distinctive style that blends softness with sophistication, emotion with elegance, pulling inspiration from fashion, art, and storytelling. I’ve photographed in iconic NYC locations, including The Met and other cultural landmarks, and worked with creatives, professionals, and authors to elevate their brands through intentional, transformative imagery.
In 2023, I relocated to Salado, Texas to focus on family, but I quickly discovered Austin’s vibrant art scene, which reignited my creative energy. Today, I run a luxury portrait studio specializing in maternity, newborn, glamour, and branding sessions, where I help women and families preserve their legacy through timeless, soulful art.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been anything but smooth, but every twist and turn has shaped me into the artist and businesswoman I am today.
When I started out in 2012 in the NJ/NYC area, I was a mobile newborn photographer, traveling to clients’ homes with a car full of props and equipment. I was driven by passion but had limited resources, and like many creatives starting out, I had to learn how to balance the artistry of photography with the demands of running a business.
Over time, I transitioned into studio work, expanded into editorial and fine art portraiture, and added glamour sessions as a way to help women see themselves in a new light. The shift from working on-location to building a studio experience taught me how to craft an environment where my clients could feel celebrated, pampered, and seen.
Relocating from the fast-paced fashion-forward energy of the NJ/NYC market to Salado, Texas, was another major shift, one that came from a desire to prioritize family while still honoring my creative calling. At first, I wasn’t sure how my style would translate here. That inspired me to elevate my work even further and position myself as a fine art and editorial portrait photographer serving families, mothers, creatives, and entrepreneurs who want something timeless and transformative.
Of course, running a photography business isn’t without its challenges, from navigating pricing and marketing to staying creatively inspired. But every obstacle has also been an opportunity for growth. Today, I feel proud to offer not just beautiful imagery, but a high-end experience that empowers my clients to own their stories and see their beauty.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a fine art, editorial, and glamour portrait photographer known for creating emotive, visually striking imagery that blends storytelling with artistry. My work focuses on capturing the soul of my subjects in an elevated, almost cinematic way, whether it’s a maternity session, a legacy portrait, or a stylized branding image. I love working with light, movement, fabric, and set design to evoke beauty, strength, and timeless elegance.
I specialize in crafting intentional, magazine-worthy portraits that celebrate the essence of each person in front of my lens. From ethereal fine art compositions to bold and empowering glamour sessions, I design every detail to reflect the vision and emotion behind the portrait.
What sets me apart is my ability to merge technical skill with intuitive artistry. I don’t just take photos, I create heirlooms, experiences, and self-portraits of the soul. I’ve worked with creatives, professionals, and families from all walks of life and take pride in providing a luxury-level experience from the very first consultation to the delivery of archival-quality artwork.
I’m most proud when my clients tell me their portraits made them feel truly seen, beautiful, and empowered. That impact is the heartbeat of my work.
