Conversations with Jason Hergenreder

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Hergenreder.

Hi Jason, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always been good with numbers. In high school, I watched my father and older brother as they often talked stock market and investments. My brother pursued a finance degree, and I soon followed with a BA in Economics. I planned to graduate, pass the series on 7/66 and move to NY to pursue a fast-paced spot on the Wall-street floor. But God had other plans. I met a girl who wanted to stay on the west coast and have a family. Fast forward 20 years after having a beautiful family and a very fulfilling career as a math teacher and football coach. I asked for advice and shared my interest in returning to it. I realized the investment industry itch was still there. So, I reached out to a buddy from college, who continued our dream right out of the gate, and whom I respect as an advisor; after all, he managed my money and investments for the past 20 years. With my wife’s support, the will of God, and hard work, I entered the financial world I constantly desired to be a contributing member of. Through my network, I also obtained very successful mentors that have genuinely guided me along the way. I am thrilled with my success and find joy in helping people save for their future and become financially secure.

Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
My struggles during my professional journey were none that I anticipated. Establishing a secure client base and building trust would take time. I expected hoops of long nights learning products and studying the market to be best prepared to help people. I didn’t anticipate how the time spent traveling, phone calls during dinners, etc., would affect my family. I have always been very involved with my children’s activities. Although my family was supportive and “on board,” it was an adjustment for all of us. Lots of sacrifices and grace! It wasn’t easy, but we are stronger for it now and very content with how our family life and my professional life have balanced out!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might need to become more familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
As a financial advisor, I provide services allowing people a well-insulated financial future. I create with my client’s retirement plans that best suit their future goals. What sets me apart from other advisors is my willingness to understand my clients’ individual future needs and wants and set in motion a structured plan to help them achieve them. The pride resides in knowing that I have the trust and built great relationships with many people. It is a great honor to have people include you in such an intimate part of their lives—a blessing.

We’d like to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I have always considered myself lucky. My wife teases me that I could find a front-row parking spot at Disney World mid-summer with my luck. In all seriousness, though, when you put good honest energy into the world, it will return to you. Being an honest, hard-working person pays along the way.
