Jeevan Babu, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After serving Indian cuisine for several years in North , we began exploring other parts of Texas to continue our business and Kyle & San Marcos were at the top of our list. Based on a couple of independent surveys and few feedbacks, we decided to start our small venture in the heart of San Marcos.
When we first opened, we didn’t expect to receive such incredible support from the community. Today, we are proud to have a 70% retention rate, and that continued loyalty is what motivates us to keep going every single day.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We had a strong start in the beginning; however, business slowed down during the summer as many college students left town and several families traveled due to the holiday season plus the slow economy impacted everyone
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I worked as a waiter, assistant chef and upgraded chef in New York city for 10 years. Later, moved to Austin in 2022 and started my own business. With a lot of work experience in the same cuisine, we are very proud to deliver the authenticity and diverse flavor in our food today.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Yes, risk is a key part when starting a business, however it also depends on how managable your risk is. I failed couple of times in business, but all of them were managable risk. That risks helped me to grow who I am today.
