Conversations with Jenna Curran

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Curran.

Hi Jenna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a content creator from New Jersey now living in Austin, TX. I work full time for Iskra Lawrence (@iskra), mommy, model, and founder of Saltair + Self Funding. I started posting on social media as a teenager and it naturally turned into a hobby of mine. Since then, I have grown my following to 9.3K on Instagram and 48K on Tiktok as well as fostering a career-focused in content creation. I work closely with Iskra to develop social content including branded content for partnerships like L’Oreal, Vital Proteins, Activia, and so much more! My first time creating branded content, I didn’t even realize I was doing it. I was 17 and OBSESSED with Aerie. They had just announced they would no longer retouch their models and that is the day I became an advocate for the #aerieREAL movement. I was one of Aerie’s first brand ambassadors in 2016 and now I am a part of a community of over 200 girls who represent the #aerieREAL movement! Aerie is what connected me to Iskra and I am so grateful for that! One small connection and a DM was all that it took to land me this job! (of course minus the college degree, years of interning, social media experience, ridiculously long resume, and my adorable charm 😉

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My best, most fine-tuned skills I currently have are skills that I have taught myself in sheer panic mode at 2am. There are so many bumps in the road that I never would’ve imagined. To be successful on social media, you have to basically “stay relevant” and to do that, you have to CONSTANTLY be researching latest trends, keeping up to date with the news, identify your voice and stick to it. It can be really time-consuming but it is also super rewarding! The apps are constantly updating (literally). It seems like each month, I am teaching myself a new skill that didn’t even exist the previous month. From the rise of Tiktok to Instagram’s new addition of reels, it is never-ending! I love that I am always on my toes but sometimes it can feel like you are always a step behind. I have to trust that I am a fast learner and make an effort to stay motivated.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am especially proud of my new reels series on Instagram called Little (BIG!) Moments. This is a series featured on my personal account where I share how I make a (BIG!) deal out of little moments. I decided one day I wanted to make my content more intentional and so I sharpened my focus and created a vision of what I wanted to share. A major theme across my life and my content is my LOVE for celebrating! I will jump on any excuse for a toast, a party, a moment of gratefulness, etc. It is really important to me to always see the JOY in the little moments because.. well, life’s just more fun that way! I’m super excited because I am going to launch MERCH (*squeal*) soon! I really wanted to make the perfect gift for someone celebrating a little (or BIG) moment so I am creating Little (BIG!) Moments champagne and wine glasses along with a crew neck + wine bag! If your bestie just moved into her new apartment, quit her job, or finally finished a project, she deserves to be celebrated! I used to just go to Target and get… a candle? but now I can gift Little (BIG!) Moments champagne flutes with fun sayings on them!

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I think social media is a great tool for networking! I got my job by DMing a very well-known model/influencer. That won’t always be the case but there are plenty of amazing relationships that start in the DMs! Think of who you look up to online and start there!
