Conversations with Jenny Zimmer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Zimmer.

Jenny, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Babynetic started during one of the most chaotic and beautiful seasons of my life: maternity leave with my second child. I’ve always worked full-time in tech leading Customer Success teams, and becoming a mother of two made me hyper-aware of what parents actually need in the moments that matter. You quickly realize how much the tiniest frustrations can derail a day: the bib you can’t find, tiny silicone buttons that catch baby hairs, or trying to snap those impossibly small onesie buttons while racing the clock to avoid a meltdown.

During those late-night feeds and nap-time windows, I started sketching ideas for products I wished existed. Not things meant to be gifted once and forgotten, but elevated, problem-solving essentials created with real families in mind. That was the beginning of Babynetic, a modern baby brand built by parents who wanted better for themselves and their kids.

I wasn’t building it alone. I started Babynetic with my best friend from college, Ashley Gooch, who is a seasoned entrepreneur and someone I’ve admired for years. We always joked that one day we’d build something together, but the timing finally aligned. Together, with five kids between us, we built a brand rooted in intention, safety, and innovation.

We invented the first-ever magnetic silicone bib, and we quickly gained a following because it solved a real problem. Our patented bib actually stays on, can hold over four pounds, conveniently stores on your fridge, and is made with platinum silicone. From there, we expanded into magnetic footies crafted from Peruvian Pima cotton with our own patented silicone-sealed magnetic buttons that are safe, soft, and dryer-friendly. Most importantly, our footies let parents get their babies dressed in seconds instead of wrestling with endless snaps. Every detail is purposeful.

Building this brand while raising two young kids and a demanding career has been both wild and incredibly rewarding. There’s no perfect balance; there’s passion, discipline, and a very supportive village. Seeing parents experience that moment of “wow, this truly makes my day easier” makes every late night worth it. Babynetic is still just getting started.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road, but I think that’s what makes this journey so meaningful. We started from absolute zero, which meant teaching ourselves everything. We had to learn the patent process, the trademark process, compliance requirements, and what it really takes to design products that are not only beautiful but genuinely safe for families.

Finding manufacturing partners who shared our standards, building supply chains from the ground up, and learning an entirely new industry while juggling full-time jobs and young kids has been… a lot. Most of Babynetic was built after bedtime, during nap windows, or in those tiny in-between moments. The pace isn’t always pretty, but it’s incredibly rewarding.

There were also moments that tested us in ways we didn’t expect. When you create a first-of-its-kind product, you naturally attract attention from competitors, and navigating that world comes with its own unique challenges. But truly, we took it as confirmation that we’re building something worth paying attention to.

Through all of it, the biggest blessing has been building this with my best friend, Ashley. Creating a brand together, supporting each other through the chaos, and celebrating every win has made even the hardest moments feel possible. We’ve learned so much, and we’re incredibly proud of what we’re creating.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve spent my entire career in tech here in Austin, long before launching Babynetic. I started out at a startup on Sixth Street where I made a hundred cold calls a day and learned the kind of grit, resilience, and creativity that only a startup can teach you.

From there, I moved into social media and digital strategy, working on fast-paced, high-stakes teams like CNN’s War Room during the election cycle and helping establish UPS’s first-ever social care program. Those roles shaped the way I think about customers, brand trust, and solving problems at scale.

Today, I lead high-performing Customer Success teams in enterprise software. I love the intersection of strategy and people leadership, helping customers reach their goals while developing teams that feel empowered, supported, and positioned to grow in their careers. Seeing others succeed is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

My tech background shapes how I approach Babynetic every day. I apply the same high-performing mindset found in tech environments: solve real problems, stay curious, listen deeply, and always iterate. That discipline is a major differentiator for us. We bring structured problem-solving, customer-centric thinking, and rigorous testing into every product decision. My goal is always the same: build thoughtful solutions that remove friction and deliver real value.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that there’s no “perfect time” to build the thing you can’t stop thinking about. I started Babynetic during maternity leave with a toddler running around and a newborn. If you feel that spark — chase it. Build the thing. Ask the questions. Take the first messy step. I hope our journey reminds people that great ideas can come from the most chaotic seasons of life.
