Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Qualls.
Hi Joseph, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started by realized I am purposefully fulfilled in creating. My grandfather who was also a barber advised me to go to barber college because he realized that I possessed a gift in communicating and creating. I was always designing or creating lifelong (fashion, web and hair).
While barbering I honed those skills- as a licensed educator, designing my own websites, app and more. And a very good client and friend Kwame Boler invited me to networking event filled with techpreneurs. I asked Kwame why he invited me. He told me knew there was something larger for me.
The techpreneur journey began with Adptablty (adaptability) now KNYKT (pronounced connect) and ManeStream media. Creating is my purpose and passion.
I live and will live all of my days ahead creating to the maximum
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a journey and
you have to be delusional to create something that doesn’t exist.
And very often, the people that you love and know, will have a difficult time seeing it also because it doesn’t exist.
At times it was/is externally lonely.
While being internally fulfilling.
Belief. In. Self. Is a necessity.
There is no blueprint if you are creating something that does not exist.
So creating a plan or a model that includes scale is not easy.
Raising capital can be a task.
Especially in order to retain equity.
A solution to those problems would be to surround yourself with people who believe and environments where belief is present. And network with people who have had similar experiences or who have a similar journey
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am committed creative
I am a barber, educator and barbershop owner.
I’m a founder of a tech company KNYKT
I’m a cofounder for a media company Mane Stream Media
I’m also a host and executive producer for a podcast Smoking Leaf Podcast.
If I had to say a few things that sent me apart from others is that I am relentless,
I have no fears and an extreme belief in what I am capable of. (and I truly believe all people are capable of this if they tapped into their potential to its fullness.)
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Obediently successful.
Obedient to my life’s purpose and calling.
And doing so giving most of my energy to creating digital products
Succeeding in sharing the things I create or am a participant in creating
the world to make life better and easy.
I do know that the barber industry will be here forever and my clients are family.
The evolution would probably be the introduction of more technology in the form of robotics which we see some of that now.
I think some of them more chain like barber businesses may be replaced by robots due to their lack of personal connection.
Technology is the next frontier.
Actually artificial intelligence.
And the changes that it is bringing to the world and industries are permanent.
It’s up from here
Hope that we all realize that, and they are not left behind.
