Conversations with Lieve Saether

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lieve Saether.

Hi Lieve, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been immersed in design—first in interiors, where I built a 20-year career creating beautiful, intentional unique spaces, and now in fashion, where I’ve channeled that same obsession with quality, fit, and feel into LIIEVE. Growing up, I learned early on that how something is made and how it makes you feel are deeply connected.

My new brand LIIEVE (sounds like ‘Lee-vah’) was born out of a desire to help women feel effortlessly put together.

I saw a gap in the market for impeccably designed wardrobe staples—pieces that don’t just fit well but feel like the best version of what you already love to wear. Our HIRO shirt, with its sculptural, interchangeable collars, is at the heart of that vision: a classic reinvented, designed to move with you through life and give you playful expression at the same time.

Transitioning from interiors to fashion wasn’t just about reaching a larger audience—it was about making great design personal, giving women something they can put on and instantly feel more like themselves. Today, LIIEVE is redefining how we think about wardrobe essentials, proving that the right piece doesn’t just elevate your outfit—it transforms your confidence.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like any meaningful endeavor, the road has been anything but smooth—but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Building LIIEVE has been a constant evolution, from fine-tuning the perfect fit to educating customers on the beauty and versatility of our convertible collars.

One of the biggest challenges has been bridging the gap between admiration and action. People love the concept and the craftsmanship, but shifting shopping habits—especially in quality luxury—takes time. The in-person experience has been a game-changer. Once someone tries on a LIIEVE piece, they understand immediately: the fit, the feel, the effortless transformation. That’s why we’ve leaned into private shopping and intimate styling events to create those “aha” moments.

Another challenge has been navigating the balance between exclusivity and accessibility. We’re a small-batch brand, and every piece is intentionally limited-edition, which makes scaling a unique puzzle. But I believe that’s also what makes LIIEVE special—these are pieces meant to be collected, cherished, and worn in a way that feels deeply personal.

Through it all, the most rewarding part has been seeing women light up when they put on a LIIEVE piece and feel truly themselves. That’s what makes every challenge worth it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Design has always been my language—it’s how I see the world, how I create, and ultimately, how I help people feel their best. Before LIIEVE, I spent two decades in interior design, shaping spaces that were not only beautiful but deeply intentional. That experience gave me an instinct for what works—what makes something timeless, what details truly matter, and how to balance form and function.

With fashion, that same approach applies, but in an even more personal way. LIIEVE is about reimagining classics, distilling a wardrobe down to pieces that feel extraordinary every time you put them on. The HIRO shirt is my answer to the search for the perfect white shirt—the one that fits impeccably, feels incredible, and transforms with sculptural, jewelry-like collars.

As a creative, my work is about problem-solving through beauty. Whether it’s designing a room or a garment, my goal is to make people feel something—to give them a sense of ease, confidence, and delight in the everyday. With LIIEVE, I get to bring that vision to life in a way that connects directly with the women who wear it. And to me, that’s the most exciting part.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk is at the heart of anything worth doing. I wouldn’t say I take risks recklessly, but I do believe in trusting my instincts, especially when it comes to design and business. Every major decision I’ve made—leaving a successful 20-year career in interiors, launching a brand in a completely different industry, introducing a new category with sculptural, interchangeable collars—has carried risk. But I’ve always believed that the biggest risk is staying still.

One of the boldest moves I made was transitioning from interior design to fashion. I was stepping into an industry with its own rules, one that’s notoriously competitive and fast-moving. It was an evolution for me within the world of design, but I knew there was a need for what I was creating. Women don’t just want beautiful clothes—they want pieces that work for them, that feel personal, that make dressing effortless. Betting on that vision, even when it meant starting from scratch, was a leap of faith.

Risk doesn’t always mean reckless—it means believing in something before the world fully sees it. The challenges are real, but so is the reward: seeing a woman light up when she puts on a LIIEVE piece and feels completely herself, or gets stopped in the street because she’s wearing something that looks and feels incredible. That moment makes every risk worthwhile.
