Hi Rhea, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my landscaping journey as a helper in Sealy, Texas, and quickly fell in love with the instant gratification of transforming outdoor spaces and the joy of working outside. I’ve always been an outdoors person—even as a child—and landscaping felt like a natural fit. Over the years, I gained experience across many aspects of the industry while working with different companies.
The last company I worked for not only shaped my skills but also encouraged and helped me take the leap into business ownership. After a lot of prayer and faith, I opened my own landscaping company. As time went on, I became a trusted, go-to landscaper in Lockhart
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building my landscaping business came with plenty of challenges. Like many small business owners, I faced long hours, financial uncertainty, and the pressure of wearing every hat—from labor and scheduling to customer service and bookkeeping. There were seasons of doubt, physical exhaustion, and moments where growth felt slow despite giving everything I had. Learning to balance quality work, fair pricing, and steady growth took time, patience, and hard lessons. Weather, equipment breakdowns, and the unpredictability of small business ownership added to the obstacles. Through it all, faith, persistence, and a commitment to doing things the right way kept me moving forward. Every challenge strengthened the foundation of the business and reinforced the values of honesty, hard work, and reliability that define our company today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I own and operate a full-service landscaping company serving the Lockhart and surrounding area. We specialize in lawn maintenance, landscape design and installation, cleanups, and ongoing property care, with a strong focus on quality, consistency, and long-term results. Our work ranges from routine maintenance to full landscape transformations, and we take pride in creating outdoor spaces that are both functional and visually appealing.
I’m most proud of the trust we’ve built within our community. Being known as a reliable, hardworking, and honest company means more to me than any single project. What truly sets us apart is the level of care we put into every job—treating each property as if it were our own—and the relationships we build with our clients. Our growth has come primarily through word of mouth, and being voted the winner in all three landscaping categories in our community’s Reader’s Choice Awards is a reflection of that trust.
What sets us apart from others is our commitment to showing up, doing things the right way, and never cutting corners. We combine experience, attention to detail, and strong values with a genuine passion for outdoor work. In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I see the landscaping industry moving toward more sustainable, water-wise, and low-maintenance solutions as clients become more intentional about their outdoor spaces. Native and drought-tolerant plants, efficient irrigation, and long-term landscape planning will continue to grow in demand.
Technology will also play a bigger role in operations and communication, and there will be a stronger emphasis on professionalism, reliability, and quality over the lowest price. Companies that adapt, stay consistent, and focus on relationships within their communities will be the ones that stand out and succeed.
