Conversations with Ryan DeSiato

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan DeSiato.

Hi Ryan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
To me, my story begins about three years ago after some powerful “wake-up calls” that directed me to intensify the discipline in my life around my principles and values. Once I started down the road of self-discipline, aligned with purpose, my art and creative endeavors blossomed in new ways naturally. These days I am so blessed to be in love with the mission and grateful for the opportunity to express the life God gave me through sound.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My struggles have been mainly with unresolved past traumas and the ways I was “dealing” with them. It took me many years of unnecessary suffering before I started to be courageous enjoy to do the work that’s lead to a great deal of personal healing.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a solo musician and songwriter that sings and plays the guitar. I use live-performed guitar loops around my acoustic, blues and soul music. Many of my instrumental compositions consist of a Spanish blues style. I like to call it psychedelic Spanish guitar to point toward my use of basic pedalboard effects.

I am most proud of my recently released single – “Ain’t No Grave” I arranged the old spiritual “hymn” myself and I’m very pleased at the finished product that myself and Lang Freeman created. It came as close to my vision as any recording I’ve worked on in many years.

What sets me apart is the paths that I’ve walked down that no one else has and how it has shaped me and my music… I know you’re looking for something more pointed but this is the answer that comes to mind 😉

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I’m an excellent outdoorsman, I love to fish and be in the woods and I’m a strong athlete.
