Conversations with Shamira Shepherd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shamira Shepherd.

Hi Shamira, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am the proud daughter of a single mother. In fact, I come from a long line of amazing, resilient women and men. I was born in New York and being raised by a military veteran allowed me to travel and meet new people often. Early on I discovered my love for building connections, exploring creativity, and serving others. I’ve always loved reading, public speaking, dancing, the outdoors and having new experiences. All of this has cultivated me into a young entrepreneur with a passion for beautifully executed results and overall enjoyment. I’ve developed a business that connects creatives and provides services across different mediums of art. Within this, we specialize in bookings for models and performing artists as well as event coordination. I’ve learned the most important part in navigating life is having a genuine heart and staying true to yourself.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has come with many obstacles. I’ve struggled with the loss of my great-grandmother due to covid, my own health and financial issues, and balancing my goals with my reality. The loss of someone close to me is what really took a toll – it basically had a domino effect on the negative experiences to follow. My perspective and healing of the heart needed to take place. I learned that I had to take care of myself – it’s ultimately what my great-grandma would have wanted and it’s my obligation to my family that is here in the present as well as my future family.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve developed a business that connects creatives and provides services across different mediums of art. Within this, we specialize in bookings for models and performing artists as well as event coordination. I love to collaborate with other creatives and help their visions come to fruition. I have a decade of personal experience in dancing (ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, jazz) modeling (runway, media brand ambassador, videos/film), public speaking (host, poetry open-mics, moderator), and event coordination (fundraisers, weddings, showcases). From this, I have cultivated a team dedicated to seeing each client’s vision beautifully executed.

Everything I do is based on what I’ve learned: the most important part in navigating life and business is having a genuine heart and staying true to yourself.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
To cherish those you love while they’re here- remain constantly grateful. That even through ups-and-downs, the love should always be there.
