Hi Shannon, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Shannon Woolley, Your local party girl!! I’m a wife, mom of 3 & caffeine lover!!
I created Magnolia Balloons & Events just a little over 1 year ago, originally in Houston, TX. So much has been attributed to the creation of Magnolia Balloons & Events. But mainly after having so many baby showers and birthdays of my own to organize, I became quite fluent in all things PARTY!
I’ve always enjoyed creating & DIYing things, so it was just kind of a no brainer for me to pursue this adventure more. At one point two years ago, I was running three businesses; designing tee shirts, coordinating weddings & styling balloons. Weddings stressed me out & the tee shirts didn’t make me happy anymore, but balloons & parties… those never go out of style! My friends & family were asking me to decorate for them more and more often, so when we moved our family up to Round Rock from Houston, I was a little worried about how well I would do, especially since we didn’t really know anyone here. But I decided to just jump in feet first, & I’m truly so glad that I did. The community & connections that I have made here have made me feel so welcomed, & I’m just so great full that people want me to be a part of some of their best memories.
I love that I can say my job is to create so that you can celebrate!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The journey to where I am with this business today hasn’t been perfect by any means. Our oldest & only son is a select baseball player, which means there is tournaments almost every weekend, so the anxiety that comes with juggling family life, children’s activities, & scheduling events around it all, Is pretty overwhelming. On top of that, The fear of not being good or experienced enough, & the fear of being in a new area where no one knows my name, all took a toll on me mentally. But my amazing & supportive husband & one of my good friends, Leslie, with Upscale Social, have encouraged me to keep pushing for my goals. I eventually got past my mental blocks & just started to put myself out there more, and I’ve gone from booking 1-2 installs a month to now having every weekend being booked with often multiple a day, as well as installs and grab & go garlands on the weekdays. Getting out of my comfort zones has allowed me to make connections with the Austin Moms blog & The Round Rock Express.

Magnolia Balloons & Events specializes in balloon decor & event styling. I’ve been able to utilize my artistic skills, experiences from coordinating weddings & patience. I’ve learned from being a parent of three children to be able to create one of a kind, eye-catching & Instagram-worthy installations.
To date, I am most proud of landing the opportunity to create fun balloon installations for the Round Rock Express. We are a huge baseball family, so it’s pretty exciting to get to create for the local minor league team.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
My biggest goal for the next five years, that I honestly see happening sooner, is getting into my own warehouse & studio storefront. My vision of this goal is a beautiful open space that I can decorate for photographers to come in for styled shoots and for clients to be able to rent out for memorable events, all while ideally, the back of house would be my work station & decor storage.
What I love about this industry is that it is always changing & never gets boring. There is always a trend to chase & new ideas to bring to life.
Balloons are a classic party staple & there’s always going to be something to celebrate.
