Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheikh Afzal.
Hi Sheikh, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been fascinated with art, and that curiosity first led me to music and photography in middle school, eventually continuing throughout medical school and my career as a practicing physician. Along the way, I formally attended music school to learn Raags and classical music, which deepened my understanding of melodic structure and expressive performance techniques rooted in the melodic frameworks of classical tradition.
To further refine my creative skills, I also attended the New York Institute of Photography, where I sharpened my technical vision and artistic approach. Today, I’m actively working in fashion photography and directing, creating striking commercial reels and visual content that reflect both my artistic sensibilities and disciplined approach to storytelling through imagery. My journey has been a blend of creative passion and professional dedication, and I’m excited to continue evolving as both an artist and storyteller.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My creative and professional journey has been full of exciting growth and discovery, shaped by opportunities to refine my skills and expand my vision. I’ve always felt that music and art connect deeply with my soul, guiding and inspiring me in ways that words alone cannot express, and giving meaning to both my creative output and personal expression. Music and visual art have a unique ability to reflect emotion and inner experience, serving as a universal language that moves and motivates creatives around the world. Over time, I embraced continuous learning whether it was formally studying Raags and classical music, attending the New York Institute of Photography, or exploring new ways to express myself through fashion photography and directing commercial reels. Each step helped me build confidence, sharpen my craft, and connect with others who inspire me. I view every part of my journey as a lesson in creativity and purpose, and I remain energized and optimistic about where my artistic path will take me next.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I create fashion photography, directing, and commercial reels, always focused on imagery that captures people’s emotions through the lens and preserves special moments that matter. I love seeing my work displayed and appreciated by clients on media screens, knowing it reaches and inspires everyday people in meaningful ways. I travel often for projects and also own a studio equipped with state‑of‑the‑art gear, which allows me to bring ambitious visual concepts to life with high production quality. What sets my work apart is my distinct artistic perspective, shaped by a lifelong passion for music and art that connects deeply with my soul and informs how I compose, direct, and visualize each project. My goal is always to create images that don’t just look beautiful but also evoke feelings, tell stories, and connect with people on a deeper emotional level turning fleeting moments into powerful and memorable visual experiences.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is growing up in a supportive, educated family where education was always a priority, my mom was a teacher, and learning was something we celebrated at home every day. I also remember watching my uncle in TV production, and how fascinated I was by the energy of the studio, lights, and storytelling happening behind the scenes. Those experiences made creativity feel exciting and accessible, and they stayed with me as I explored music, art, and photography from a young age. Music and art always connected with my soul, and being encouraged by my family to pursue those interests helped shape the artist I am today. My supportive childhood taught me the value of curiosity, self‑expression, and lifelong learning, and those positive influences continue to guide my creative work.
