Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Marks.
Hi Stephanie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Stephanie, Kristen and Kelly opened Bettie Bangs Salon in February 2013. We all worked together previously at another salon and were ready to start our own salon. We won Best New Salon in Austin Monthly our 1st year . It was clear to us that we were heading in the right direction. In the years to come we worked at sxsw doing bands hair and the VIP areas.
Kelly left us to raise children in 2015 and we expanded the salon. We also hired ashley to be an employee and later are salon manager. Shortly after covid, we closed our main doors and moved on. Kristen ashley and I are still together after all these years. Bettie Bangs salon is now located in the phoenix salon suites. We are like family not only amongst the three of us but with our clients. We strive to make sure that our clients leave happy with not only beautiful hair but with our level of service that we provide. We pride ourself in all that we do.
We specialize in color & cuts.
We have also, through the years made sure to give back to our community with
Charity events .
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We struggled with having to close our doors after covid. It also took us several years to find a place that we could call our own again. But we have always stayed strong and always stay together.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We do a lot of vivid/ creative color.
We have an old school salon vibe with a modern twist. We are super proud of the clientele that we have maintained through the years. We are close with our clients. We laugh, we have cried . We pride ourselves in the fact that our clients aren’t just a number. They are guests they are friends.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Stephanie and kristen’s mom’s were both hairstylist. They both owned salons that they grew up in.
Stephanie has been a stylist for thirty years
Kristen has been a stylist for 15.
