Conversations with Taylor Love

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Love.

Hi Taylor, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started doing makeup when I was 17 and just doing eye makeup. I loved being able to create different eye looks and never having the same look twice. My friends would comment and ask me to do theirs and I just wasn’t comfortable doing it at the time. Well, one day my mom commented on my make up and asked me to do hers. I was nervous, but I did it anyway. It was not the best and I let her know I didn’t think doing makeup on other people was for me. So, I continued doing my own makeup and mastering different techniques.

A couple of years went by and my man and I moved out on our own. I was becoming more confident in my work and started posting my looks on Snapchat. I had so many messages coming in asking me to do their makeup and finally, I gave into one of them. I was nervous yet again, but I persevered through the look. I was so impressed how far I came and my client felt amazing. I loved the feeling of making someone else feel beautiful! That moment on, I knew that is what I wanted to do and I started having more and more clients sit in my chair. I was comfortable doing other peoples’ makeup now and I was ready to start a makeup page! I started my Facebook business page (MakeupByAlyexusLove) & started posting all my looks on there. Before I knew it, I was taking in clients more and more. I decided to invest in my career so I enrolled in QC Academy to further my education in skincare and makeup. I will be receiving my certification soon! After my first two courses, my work improved so much that my clientele became consistent. I am forever grateful for QC for teaching me the difference of Instagram makeup and professional makeup. My business is flourishing and I can’t wait for more faces in my chair and to further my education even more!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being an entrepreneur is never easy! While building my brand, I was learning how to live life. I had to overcome financial battles that I never thought I would get out of. I was working my full-time job to fund my business and get it up and running. Now, my business is funding itself and all that hard work at the beginning is paying off.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a full-time makeup artist and I specialize in making woman feel beautiful in their own skin. I am so proud of my brand and how far I have come. I’m most proud of my dedication and hard work I put towards my artistry. I practice new looks every single day until I get comfortable enough to do it with ease. I constantly keep up with trends in the beauty industry and go over school content to keep up with my knowledge. I feel what sets me apart from other artists is I examine my client’s face for about 3 minutes. I really love to understand my client’s skin so I can enhance them naturally. I never try to change my client to look like another person but to show them how beautiful they are by enhancing their true beauty. Color matching is my specialty and I will spend a while perfecting that certain skin tone. I don’t want my client’s makeup to just look good on camera, but in person in all angles and lighting.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I think taking risks is important in any form of business. One of the biggest risks I took was paying for promotion and ads. I never thought I would be paying for views, but in actuality it is what got me where I am today. I didn’t think I would see much progress, but within a week I immediately had more reactions and more messages coming my way. Never be afraid to invest into your business. If you are always afraid to take risks, you will never grow.
