Conversations with Terrika Mitchell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrika Mitchell

Hi Terrika, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From a young age, I’ve always seen fashion as more than just clothing—it’s a way to tell a story without words. Whether I was experimenting with thrifted finds or helping friends put together outfits, I realized that style is a powerful tool for self-expression. That passion for curating unique, meaningful wardrobes led me to take the leap and formalize my love for fashion by launching StyledxTerriMitch in 2019.

My approach to styling is rooted in the belief looking good doesn’t have to be expensive.
I focused on sharing the art of thrifting with my clients helping them create stylish, bold, & sustainable wardrobes.

Over time, I accumulated an incredible collection of vintage & secondhand treasures, and it wasn’t long before people began to take notice. Friends, coworkers, and even strangers would ask where I shopped, often surprised when I revealed that my wardrobe gems came from thrift stores.

My love for blending vintage and modern aesthetics pushed me to expand the business. The next year, I began hosting pop ups & opened The Luvintage Boutique, a vibrant showroom filled unique vintage pieces and contemporary styles.

Through Luvintage, I emphasize the importance of giving clothing a second life. I strive to show my customers that vintage & secondhand fashion is not only stylish but also sustainable.
My products are size-inclusive, reflecting the diversity of the people who wear them, and are sourced from various cities and countries as I travel. Each destination brings a unique flair to my collection, adding to the eclectic and vibrant essence of Luvintage.

I continue to evolve and expand my businesses, always staying true to my core values of sustainability, creativity, and individuality. From the pop-up shops in my mom’s backyard to traveling the world in search of vintage gems, this journey has been fueled by passion, and I’m excited to see where it takes me next. Now, when people tell me, “I wish I could shop your closet,” I can finally say, “Now you can!”

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As an entrepreneur, I’ve faced my share of challenges, both expected and unexpected, throughout this journey. When I first started out with StyledxTerriMitch and later The Luvintage Boutique, one of the biggest obstacles was simply getting people to see the value in Vintage fashion . Sustainable styling weren’t always mainstream ideas, and I often found myself having to educate potential customers on why buying secondhand, clothing was more than just a trend—it was a way to contribute to something bigger, to embrace sustainability while expressing your authentic self.

Another challenge has been the balance between creativity and the day-to-day responsibilities of running a business. As a creative person, my passion lies in styling, sourcing vintage pieces, and curating unique collections. However, being an entrepreneur means I also have to wear so many other hats—handling marketing, managing finances, planning events, and dealing with logistical issues like inventory management. Learning how to juggle these responsibilities, while still keeping the creativity alive, has been a tough but essential lesson.

I’ve also struggled with indecisiveness, which at times slowed down my business growth. Whether it was deciding on how to expand StyledxTerriMitch, figuring out the direction for The Luvintage, or even smaller decisions like branding and marketing strategies, I sometimes found myself overthinking and second-guessing my choices. It was a constant battle to trust my gut and move forward, even when uncertainty loomed.

Despite these challenges, I’ve learned so much about resilience, resourcefulness, and the importance of staying true to my vision. Each hurdle has taught me how to navigate the highs and lows of entrepreneurship with grace, grit, and a lot of patience.

Response for questions below.

I’m the founder and owner of The Luvintage Boutique and StyledxTerriMitch, where I specialize in curating unique, size-inclusive vintage fashion and offering personalized styling services. Through The Luvintage, I provide preloved treasures that celebrate individuality and sustainability. My mission is to show people the beauty in giving clothing a second life, all while helping them build a wardrobe that reflects their authentic style.

What sets me apart is my approach to styling. I offer free personal styling with every purchase, guiding my customers on how to incorporate their new vintage pieces into their existing wardrobe. I also source my items from different cities and countries, so each piece comes with its own story and a reflection of the local culture. This adds an eclectic and vibrant flair to my collections, which has become a signature of my brand.

I’m most proud of how I’ve been able to merge my passion for sustainability with fashion. Both The Luvintage and StyledxTerriMitch are rooted in helping people feel confident in clothing that not only fits their style but also aligns with values like sustainability and creativity. Whether I’m styling an outfit or sourcing a unique vintage piece, my work is all about creating a personalized experience that stands out from the fast fashion world. My clients walk away not just with a new piece but with a sense of how fashion can be fun, meaningful, and sustainable.
