Conversations with Travis Anderson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Travis Anderson.

Hi Travis, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I just graduated from college with a B.S. in Kinesiology in May 2022. In June, I opened my own business to offer personal training and partnered with Fact Fitness in Round Rock to work as a trainer. The beginning was rough as I’m not originally from the Austin area, so it was all new. Starting with only two clients wasn’t going to cut it for me, and I knew I had to change my marketing strategy. I began to market towards athletes as I’ve had a background in training athletes in College Station, and this is when others started hearing about me. After three months, I began to see success and felt that my business would start to float and not sink. I also partnered with a supplement company around this time called 1st Phorm. After doing this, I could offer nutrition for my clientele which was a game changer for my growth. Since then, I have occasionally found new clientele, but most newcomers have been recommended to me by previous or existing clientele. It’s been my job to give individuals a positive outlook on health and show that not all health goals look the same for people. I can explain the science of working out all day long, but some people don’t appeal to that, as they want a solid professional who’s a real person helping them find real results.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
My journey has felt like an old country road that hasn’t been worked on in decades. It’s been many ups and downs as I’ve tried finding business. The nature of personal training is significantly come and goes, so I feel like the clientele I have has switched monthly, so finding new faces is always something I have to focus on.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m in the fitness profession as a personal trainer. I specialize in training athletes and am currently pursuing my CSCS certification for athletic training. What sets me apart is that I focus on using my pre-physical therapy knowledge and applying it to all of my clientele. I’ve worked with athletes as young as 7 to semi-professional athletes. It doesn’t matter what the goals are for a person. I’ve already helped someone accomplish those goals before.

What characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to if you had to?
Being personable and knowledgeable in your craft. People are motivated by results, and in training, the results speak just about as clearly as any other profession.
