Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Barendt.

Vanessa Barendt

Hi Vanessa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started my journey in the beauty industry 20 years ago. I worked for a Dermatologist and learned everything I know about skin. I became a Master Lash Stylist of 13 years, a Lash Trainer, and, most rewarding, a Paramedical Tattoo Artist. The most common question I get asked is how I got into this line of work. Easy, it was a God thing. It just happened: I had plastic surgery and was looking to get my scars covered, and the next thing I knew, I was signing up to become a tattoo artist. After giving birth to three children, I know what it’s like to struggle with confidence in your body. I also know how big of an impact a cosmetic treatment can have on your self-esteem and ability to heal.

I offer 3 services: scar camouflage (hence my name), inkless stretch mark treatment, and areola restoration.

  • Scar camouflage: This method involves using a needle and pigment to place a customized ink color under the skin to camouflage your scar. This conceals the scar by blending it into the skin color of the surrounding area.
  • Inkless Treatment: Using a traditional tattoo machine and precisely targeting each stretch mark with non-pigmented skin-rejuvenating serum. The result is a less visible stretch mark and improved skin texture in the treated area.
  • Areola Restoration: This is a permanent solution for clients who have had breast surgery. The process involves using a special tattooing technique to create the look of natural areolas and nipples. Through this customizable treatment, we can restore the color, shape, and texture of your areolas to help you feel confident and whole within your body.

These treatments are customizable and unique to each client and their story. I love helping you feel like you, confident in your abilities, your body, your skin, and your purpose. It’s not about perfection; it’s about feeling beautiful within yourself and letting your spirit shine through. I’ve been beyond blessed throughout my years working in the beauty industry. God has always provided for me, and it’s my ultimate mission to give back to other women through the power of beauty.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I haven’t had many struggles to this point, but the reason for that, in large part, is I am meant to do this. After graduating from Cosmetology School in 2004, every step felt right because this industry is my passion. My biggest struggle remains to find the right balance between raising my 3 boys and working to pursue this journey.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a paramedical tattoo artist specializing in custom blend inks to make your scar look cohesive and undisturbed or, my favorite, camouflage the scar into its surrounding skin. I’m most proud of how my clients feel; getting scars worked on is more than a physical act. It’s very emotional. Scars are physical and carry emotional weight. While some clients are proud or unbothered, some men and women are embarrassed, ashamed, and hide their scars. I’m one of a kind; I’m compassionate, trustworthy, and, most of all, passionate.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is being open to learning multiple techniques and finding the best one for me and my clients. Continuing education is a must in this industry.
