Today we’d like to introduce you to Viki Christman
Hi Viki, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I moved to the United States from Hungary by myself at 21, with no one holding my hand, which I am very proud of. I was an au pair for about two years. Since then, I’ve tried out many industries, but the fashion industry is the one I am truly passionate about. As a hardworking immigrant, I firmly believe in the statement that with hard work, you can build anything and become anyone you want to. That’s why I started Loreleey Designs
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s definitely not. As an au pair, I had a hard time finding the right family where we fit well together. Because of that, I had two rematch until I found the right one. I also quit many of my previous jobs because I felt no passion, underpaid, and the entrepreneur in me kept screaming that I didn’t want a 9-to-5 job—I wanted 24/7. You never really have time off when you own a business, but I love it that way
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a fashion designer, and I started building my business in college. I had the incredible opportunity to showcase my first collection at an event organized by House of Emagi, which gave me the courage to take this path more seriously. Since then, opportunities have continued to come my way, and I am currently preparing for Paris Fashion Week, organized by Fashion Republic Magazine. I currently offer customized designs, but I am working on taking this company to the next level and building a fashion empire that will operate both here and overseas. I believe my Hungarian heritage makes me unique in Austin, and you can see that influence in my designs. I love mixing elements from different cultures, and I truly enjoy collaborating with others. I feel empowered as we lift each other up as humans.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is my family always first priority. Also as a passionate animal lover, it is crucial to me that my brand remains cruelty-free, ensuring no harm comes to animals in any aspect of production. Sustainability is equally important, as I believe in preserving the environment for future generations while creating products that align with ethical values.I have upcycled and reused fabric that has been owned by my family for over 100 years—an excellent example of how fabric can be reused and not discarded after just a few wears.
