Hi Wendy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, my husband and I suddenly found ourselves on the brink of losing everything we had worked so hard for. With events shutting down and uncertainty at every turn, we had to act fast. At the time, we were living in a highly sought-after vacation destination—a place couples often chose for destination weddings. I saw this as an opportunity and quickly started a plan.

Over the next few months I developed a comprehensive business plan, identified key market demographics, and brought on a like-minded business partner who shared my vision. With my husband’s unwavering support, we built Weddings by Wendi from the ground up. We designed an affordable yet elegant venue space for both ceremonies and receptions and launched a professional website to begin marketing our services.

Our goal was simple: to create memorable, stress-free wedding experiences without the hefty price tag often associated with high-end events. We focused on delivering exceptional service, cultivating relationships with trusted local vendors, and building a reputation for reliability and style.

Today, Weddings by Wendi has grown far beyond our original concept. We now coordinate weddings throughout Austin and Dripping Springs, and our services extend across the state of Texas. Whether it’s a rustic hill country ceremony or a chic urban celebration, we provide everything a couple needs for an unforgettable wedding—from planning and coordination to décor, staffing, and more.

What started as a survival plan during a crisis has evolved into a thriving business built on passion, creativity, and a deep commitment to celebrating love in all its forms!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We can honestly say the road has been anything but smooth. We launched our wedding‐planning business right in the middle of a global pandemic, at a time when ceremonies worldwide were being canceled or postponed overnight. From day one we faced uncertainty: guests couldn’t travel, venues shut their doors, and every plan had a chance of falling apart.

We remember countless late nights on the phone scrambling for backup solutions. Once our florist lost her supplier two days before a ceremony, and we frantically created a substitute bouquet from what we could find at the local market. Another time, our DJ fell ill at the last minute and we raced to reconfigure the playlist over borrowed speakers. Even a menu had to be changed on the fly when a caterer’s staff fell through.

In those chaotic moments—flights landing late, thunderclouds rolling in during an outdoor ceremony, missing tablecloths—we learned to think fast and improvise without breaking a sweat. Each emergency became a trial by fire: by packing extra essentials, keeping a list of trusted vendors on speed dial, and rehearsing quick Plan B’s, we gradually built the muscle memory needed to handle anything a wedding day could throw at us. Which makes us unstoppable now!

Whether you’re getting married in a rustic barn, an elegant ballroom, or a backyard garden, we bring your vision to life with thoughtful attention to every detail—from floral arrangements and centerpieces to color palettes, ceremony arches, and custom installations. One of our signature pieces is a six-foot white flower wall we handcrafted ourselves, perfect for photo backdrops or ceremony decor. We even provide amazing professional photography with our packages!

What truly sets us apart is our ability to build genuine, lasting relationships with our couples. We take the time to understand their personalities, style, and love story, ensuring every element feels intentional and unique. Our goal is to deliver not just a beautiful event, but a deeply meaningful experience that reflects exactly what each couple has dreamed of.

Our vision for the future is to expand our creative event design and planning services to a wider range of venues across Austin, Texas, and the surrounding Hill Country. With years of experience in executing flawless weddings and corporate events, we recognize that successful events involve multiple layers—strategic planning, cohesive design, and seamless coordination.

Our goal is to build strong partnerships with local hotels, resorts, and venues, becoming their preferred event planning resource.
