Conversations with Xavier McIntyre

Today we’d like to introduce you to Xavier McIntyre.

Hi Xavier, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey started through sports and a deep curiosity about how the human body performs, adapts, and recovers. I played Division I football and studied kinesiology, where I became fascinated by hydration, nutrition, and performance at a systems level. During that time, I noticed a recurring problem—athletes were consistently dehydrated and not getting enough real nutrients, especially vegetables, despite training at a high level. I began experimenting by making my own fruit- and vegetable-based hydration blends for teammates, which eventually turned into early sales and the foundation of my first venture.
That idea evolved into OrganicX, a performance-driven hydration concept rooted in clean, functional ingredients. As I continued studying science, working in strength and conditioning, and connecting with researchers, coaches, and athletes, my perspective expanded. I realized I wasn’t just building a product—I was exploring a larger question: how hydration and nutrients move through the body and how we could design systems that work with biology at a deeper level.
Today, that thinking has grown into what I’m building now: the Hydranutrient System (HNS), a food-science and technology platform focused on improving how water, electrolytes, and nutrients are delivered and used in the body. My work now sits at the intersection of performance, science, and entrepreneurship—developing concepts, collaborating with experts, and documenting the journey as I continue to build. I’m still early in the process, but everything I’ve done—from athletics to coaching to research—has led me to this point: trying to create something that meaningfully improves human performance, health, and access to better hydration and nutrition worldwide.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. A big part of my journey has been shaped by adversity and moments that forced me to grow quickly. While I was in college trying to earn my place as a walk-on football player, my dad passed away. That period was one of the hardest times in my life—balancing grief, academics, and the constant pressure of proving I belonged on a Division I team. Being a walk-on meant nothing was guaranteed, and every day felt like an uphill battle to earn respect, earn reps, and earn a future.

As I started exploring hydration and nutrition more seriously, I ran into a different kind of resistance. Some of the very people I expected support from—sports nutrition professionals around me—told me the ideas I was pursuing wouldn’t work or would take years of science and resources I didn’t have. Hearing that was discouraging, especially early on when I was still trying to find my footing and confidence as a builder and thinker.

There have also been the typical entrepreneurial struggles: uncertainty, limited resources, learning things on the fly, and trying to move a big vision forward while still building credibility. But those challenges shaped me. Losing my dad strengthened my sense of purpose. Being a walk-on taught me resilience and discipline. And being doubted forced me to think deeper, learn faster, and commit fully to the path I’m on. None of it has been easy—but it’s exactly what forged the mindset I carry into everything I’m building today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work sits at the intersection of human performance, strength and conditioning, and food-science innovation. I specialize in understanding how the body hydrates, fuels, and adapts under stress—from athletics to everyday life—and translating that into practical systems, training approaches, and technology-driven nutrition concepts. My background includes Division I athletics, kinesiology, and hands-on work in performance environments, which shaped how I think about the body not as isolated parts, but as an integrated system.
I’m currently focused on building the Hydranutrient System (HNS), a science-driven approach to improving how water, electrolytes, and nutrients move through and are utilized by the body. Rather than just creating a product, I’m working to develop a platform that can influence hydration and nutrition across multiple formats—performance, health, and even global access. Alongside that, I continue working in strength and conditioning, coaching, and performance education.
What I’m most proud of is turning curiosity into action. From starting as a walk-on athlete to building early hydration concepts from scratch and now developing a broader system, everything has come from observation, experimentation, and persistence. I’m also proud of the people I’ve been able to impact—athletes, clients, and peers—by helping them understand their bodies and perform at a higher level.
What sets me apart is how I connect worlds that are often separated: athletics, science, nutrition, and long-term systems thinking. I don’t just look at performance for today; I think about infrastructure—how hydration, nutrient delivery, and human performance can be improved at a foundational level. I’m known for being deeply curious, systems-oriented, and willing to pursue big ideas, even when they’re early, unconventional, or difficult to execute.

Any big plans?
My plans for the future center on continuing to build and evolve the work behind the Hydranutrient System (HNS) while expanding my impact in performance, coaching, and science-driven innovation. I’m focused on developing the early infrastructure—research, prototypes, partnerships, and storytelling—to bring the system to life in a tangible way. That includes documenting the journey, collaborating with scientists and practitioners, and continuing to refine how hydration and nutrient delivery can be improved at a foundational level.
I’m also planning for growth personally and professionally. That means stepping further into leadership, expanding my coaching and performance work, and positioning myself in environments where I can keep learning and building alongside people operating at a high level. There are big shifts ahead: new collaborations, new locations, and new opportunities to scale what I’m working on beyond just a single product into a broader platform.
What I’m most looking forward to is the building phase: turning ideas into real systems, real data, and real-world impact. The long-term vision is to help shape a future where hydration and nutrition are more intelligent, accessible, and integrated into how people live and perform every day. I’m still early in that path, but the momentum is there, and the next few years will be about execution, growth, and bringing the vision into reality.
