Daily Inspiration: Meet Anelia (DVMA) Lomsky

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anelia (DVMA) Lomsky.

Hi Anelia (DVMA), thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Dama. I grew up in a neighborhood in Brooklyn called Brighton Beach. Hip Hop was a part of life, freestyling outside Lincoln High School. I made some waves and lived a hundred lives in NY before moving to Austin in 2017. I could finally breathe, collect my thoughts, and separate being in the “industry” from being a Creator. I met my partner and producer DatBoyCraig working at a bar on 12th and Chicon. We would make music, and he would push me outside my comfort zone. During Covid, I took it to another level by dyeing my hair blonde, changing my whole image, and creating “Gangsta Bitch Love Songs.” I spent 4 years there before moving back to Brooklyn in 2021.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not, lol. Russian immigrant parents raised me; there were a lot of conflicts. My dad died when I was 13, after which I took to the streets and started getting in trouble. I spent some time in a Youth detention center, moved out on my own at 17, so I was paying rent and living a very adult life, went to jail for assaulting my stepdad at 19, was homeless, living in my producer friend Soze basement for a year, hustled to get by. I got my place in my neighborhood (Brighton Beach) which was the trap house, and that was a great time. Austin saved my life cause after that; it’s been pretty smooth. Not saying there haven’t been obstacles but in comparison to the first half? Easy peasy.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an artist, producer, DJ, and songwriter. I’m known for relatable romantic songs that resonate with women and men alike and take you to a place where vulnerability is celebrated. I recently released “My Brother Will kick your ass”, which will also appear on Gangsta Bitch Love Songs Vol 2. What sets me apart my naked vulnerability; whether you can relate or not, you will feel it.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I have a Shih Tzu named Santana; she’s 9 and has been with me everywhere. I record all my records and do most of my mixing and editing. I love my team, and we started a label called “So So Grimey.” And I speak fluent Russian.
