Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Ray, co-founder of Your Tale.
Hi Bryan, we’d love for you to start by introducing Your Tale.
What started as a Christmas gift has become Your Tale, owned and operated by husband and wife Bryan Ray and Staci Lammering. Your Tale offers personalized, recorded interviews of individuals telling their life stories. The Christmas after Staci’s father passed away, Bryan interviewed her mother, starting with her earliest memory, and gave it to Staci, her brother, and her sister. He could capture stories they had never heard, her mannerisms, her laughter, and some life advice, and capture who she was. Four years ago, we began conducting interviews for others, but after having our first child and entering the pandemic, the idea for Your Tale was put on pause. But after a couple of years, Bryan – a music producer and audio engineer by profession decided to open the doors to his home recording studio, and Your Tale began operating.
You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
It’s still in the early stages, and while all of our clients are beyond thrilled with the experience and the end product, we are still working to spread the word because we know how invaluable the voices and memories of our loved ones are.
Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
I’m most known for my music. I was twice nominated for Producer of the Year in the Austin Music Awards, and I’ve been a professional songwriter and producer for over ten years. Still, I’m also an educator and lover of people. I taught at Austin Community College for nine years and was abroad in South Korea before that. Ultimately, every person has a story to tell, and the more we hear and share those stories, the more we understand how much we all truly have in common. We need that now more than ever.
We all have different ways of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Your Tale is about valuing every single person because every single person has value. Success is getting that message out to the world.
Pricing:
- Our standard interview is $500.
- We also do custom, long-form oral histories on a sliding scale.
