Daily Inspiration: Meet Caleb Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caleb Williams.

Hi Caleb, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started ATX Auto Detail in March of 2019 after detailing a large car collection as part of my previous job. I’ve always been interested in owning my own business, so when I decided to leave my position at that company, the timing seemed right. It took a while to get the business going because I didn’t have a budget for any advertising, but by focusing on the quality of my work and asking for reviews and referrals, I slowly started building a solid customer base. 2020 was a tough year, and I had to fill in work with a couple of other jobs, but thankfully I made it through and so far 2021 has been an amazing year for the business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been the smoothest road, but I definitely can’t complain. Overall everything has been great, but as with most people 2020 was a hard year. Between being considered non-essential, and then just the general slow down in business coming in it was a tough year.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve been detailing cars since 2013. Up until 2019, I detailed as part of a previous job I had helping take care of a car collection here in Austin. After learning how to properly detail cars and gaining a ton of experience doing it, I realized it was a great lead-in to own my own business.

I am most proud of the quality of work that I do, the reputation I’ve built, and that I didn’t give up when things were hard. I believe those things are a large part of what sets me apart from others as well. I also focus on taking my time and never rushing so that every job is done as well as it can be.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Pick something you’re good at and passionate about, always continue learning and growing, and put yourself out there as much as possible. Persistence is extremely important – there are times when you’re just starting that there may be limited or no business coming in, and it feels like you should just quit. I think this is when you have to double down and put yourself in front of potential customers, ask for reviews from anyone you’re working for, and just make sure you’re doing the best job you can no matter your field of work. If you’re doing great work and you keep at it, chances are you’ll succeed.
