Today we’d like to introduce you to Camilla Kaiser.
Hi Camilla, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve loved photography for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my dad bought a DSLR for our family, which I quickly claimed as my own, and my great aunt gifted me one of her film cameras – both of which sparked a lifelong love for documenting people and moments.
When I moved to Austin and got married, photography became even more personal. I found myself constantly photographing my husband and stepdaughter, and during that time (while building a new life and looking for work) I began offering family photo sessions. With a background in graphic design, I already had some experience with photoshoots and editing, and I leaned into learning the technical side of photography and getting as much hands on experience as possible.
Slowly, my focus shifted from family sessions to weddings. Starting from zero meant working my way up, investing in gear over time, assisting other photographers and earning trust in an industry where you’re asked to capture one of the most important days in someone’s life.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think the biggest challenge in this industry is self-doubt; comparing yourself to others and trying to find your own visual voice. But the truth is, there’s no one who sees the world (and weddings) like you do, and that’s a superpower; at the heart of everything I do is a love for creating art, telling stories, and celebrating love in all its forms. It’s important to keep growing, learning, evolving and building trust & relationships. I’ve learned a lot from fellow photographers and will always be incredibly grateful to the couples who trusted me early on.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I photograph unique love stories in Texas and worldwide, in a way that feels artful and meaningful. I’m guided by values of kindness and inclusivity. My work spans weddings, elopements, and everything that follows; I love continuing to serve my couples beyond the wedding day and documenting their growing families.
My work is a blend of classic and artful photography with an editorial edge. I’m drawn to bright, bold imagery that’s true to color, film-inspired, and timeless, with a strong emphasis on light and genuine emotion, and I aim to create photographs that feel romantic, timeless and elevated – while still remaining honest and grounded in real moments.
On a wedding day, I bring a calm, joyful presence. I know when to gently take charge and when to blend into the background, helping my couples feel comfortable and at ease so they can fully enjoy their day. That trust allows me to capture moments that feel natural, intimate, and meaningful. What I’m most proud of is being invited into these sacred moments and trusted with preserving them.
I think what sets me apart is my unique point of view, the dedication to my craft and my commitment to authenticity. Above all, I believe in celebrating love in all its forms and telling each story with honesty, beauty, and intention.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I’ve always deeply cared about people, animals and things around me, and I’ve always been a perfectionist – wanting to dedicate myself fully to whatever I’m doing. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that my best work usually happens when I let go of that perfectionism and just find the joy in what I’m doing. I was (and still am) confident, nerdy, creative, calm, fun-loving and guided by strong values.
