Daily Inspiration: Meet Cassandra Klepac

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Klepac.

Hi Cassandra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Sure thing. So, I’m a photographer and director drawn to bold ideas, real connection, and stories that feel alive. Whether it’s a polished campaign, a gritty portrait, or something a little more cinematic, my work is always rooted in intention — and a desire to make something that actually feels.

The spark started years ago when I played trombone in a ska band (yes, really). I loved the chaos and energy of live shows, but honestly, I was more interested in what was happening around me — the in-between moments, the vibe, the way people moved and connected. That curiosity naturally shifted into photography and eventually into directing.

These days, I shoot everything from big commercial campaigns to personal projects that live somewhere between art and emotion. I’m not chasing trends — I’m more interested in setting a mood, telling a story, and making work that has heart. Whether I’m leading a crew or flying solo, I approach every shoot with care, creativity, and a love for the process.

I’m based in Texas, but I travel often. I’ve got a cozy little studio in Austin called Good Friend — it’s full of natural light, good energy, and usually my dog Mala. Come say hi anytime

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not a smooth road — but I think that’s part of what makes the journey so meaningful. In the early days, I was figuring it all out with limited gear, barely scraping together enough to invest in the tools I needed. Money was tight, and the pressure to “make it” creatively while staying afloat financially was very real.

On top of that, it took time to find my people — the collaborators, clients, and friends who truly saw me and supported the way I work. I spent a lot of years pouring into others while also juggling caregiving and showing up for my family. That emotional labor isn’t always visible, but it’s a big part of my story and what’s shaped my approach.

Through it all, I just kept creating. Even when things felt uncertain, I held onto the belief that the right people, projects, and momentum would come if I stayed true to my vision. And they did — slowly but surely. Every challenge has pushed me to grow, not just as an artist but as a human.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a photographer and director, but really I’m just someone who loves making things that feel. I shoot everything from commercial campaigns to portraits to little films that live somewhere between art and heart. My style’s bold, cinematic, sometimes a little gritty, but always rooted in emotion and intention.

I work a lot in the wellness, lifestyle, and food world — but I also love mixing things up with experimental shoots and personal projects that dive into deeper stuff like healing, identity, and connection. I’m probably known for being the one who brings good vibes to set, captures the in-between moments, and somehow makes everything look and feel effortless (even when we’re moving fast and making magic on the fly).

I’m super proud of the work, of course — but I’m even more proud of the way I work. I’m big on collaboration, on making people feel seen and supported, and on creating an experience that’s fun, fluid, and full of intention.

I’m here to make something new. I’ve got the range to wear a lot of hats (director, shooter, producer, editor), but I always lead with care.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
So many ways! I’m always open to collaborating, whether it’s a brand project, an editorial concept, or something totally out-of-the-box. You can hit me up through my site or Instagram, or just shoot over an email with your ideas. I love working with people who care about the why as much as the wow.

If you want to support my work, sharing it, talking about it, or even just sending a kind note goes a long way.

And if you’re in Austin, come say hi at my studio, Good Friend!
