Daily Inspiration: Meet Chassie Anders

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chassie Anders.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey into the beauty industry started in the Austin area. While I have always been the friend that helped others get ready, my family opened up a boutique beauty supply in Marble Falls, TX in 2010. After that did not end up working out, I enrolled in Cosmetology school and began working for a local makeup company. After graduating from the Aveda Institute, I continued to work as a makeup artist and hairstylist in Austin, TX. I have been in the beauty industry since I was 19 (I’m turning the big 30 this year), and in that time, I have had the privilege of working with numerous fashion shows, photoshoots, weddings, and so many more special events. My work has been featured in TV, print, and on famous international wedding blogs like Style Me Pretty, Ruffled Blog, and locally with Brides of Austin. My husband and I moved away for a period of time but continued to travel back to Austin for work often. We have gained countless wedding industry friends and community, and have family here, so we recently decided to move back full time.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road, but I think most things worth pursuing in life are not going to come easy… it has been a road that has come with many victories and struggles. Struggles like feeling isolated and alone in making business decisions as a sole entrepreneur. I have struggled personally with the social pressure that I need a college degree to succeed. Being your own boss definitely comes with its perks, but when you run your own business, you have to juggle and learn every aspect of what it takes to run a company. I have to be the face of my company, do the marketing, respond to inquiries, schedule and plan my client’s wedding days, execute social media content, pay my taxes, and so much more so that I can perform my hair + makeup services—the actual thing that made me start my business. Thankfully my husband, Noah Anders, has quit his job and we both own and operate Crown of Glory now. It’s so helpful to have a partner in crime with me now! I think my own self-doubt, though, has been my biggest consistent struggle and challenge, but with grace and humility, I’m learning to listen to the encouraging voice in my head instead of my inner critic to push forward! With all that being said, I still love being an entrepreneur and running my business. I wouldn’t change my road, although I will do my best to help others from making some of my mistakes.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Crown of Glory Beauty performs onsite (or in our new ATX studio) professional beauty services for weddings, portraits, and every day gals. We embrace natural beauty so that woman don’t feel they have to cover up or change their features but rather enhance the features that make them uniquely lot and wonderfully made! We do our best to use clean, non-toxic beauty products because we believe natural beauty starts with our spiritual, mental, and physical health. We also give back to local ministers fighting against Human Trafficking. I truly believe our embracing natural beauty products, techniques, and some of the most overlooked natural beauty is what makes Crown of Glory Beauty unique.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
In my opinion, Austin’s wedding industry is honestly some of the best in our country, if not the world. The creative businesses here are amazing. I love that the people of Austin care about the ingredients we put into and on our bodies. I love the beauty of the surrounding hill country. Oh, and the dog-friendly environment is the best because Noah and I love our pup, Calypso. Really aren’t too many negatives, other than the traffic, haha. I avoid downtown travel other than for weddings. Oh, and the high cost of living is a negative too.
